Well I bought a new yamaha four wheeler and a few weeks later the dealer calls up and asks were I want my shotgun send to, so I ask him what shotgun he would be talking about. He had forgot to tell me that yamaha had a promotion going on. So now I have a new Weatherby PA-08 22" barrel shotgun with n ugly camo stock. I'm not much of a shotgun guy, but it looks, from the out side a lot like a Rem 870, anyone know much about these?

Yes I know a bit about weatherby shotguns, you would have to find an 870 wingmaster made in the 70's for it to even be close to the same quality and workmanship as the weatherby. If you don't want the weatherby I am sure someone will take it off your hands. The model you have is made for turkey hunting. If it had a 28" barrel I would be interested. Don't cut the barrel down or anything stupid. If you don't like it sell it.

Here is buds prices on weatherby shotguns. They appear to be one of the better values on the market. A gun that is as well made as a BPS for $350 is a deal. http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/index.php/cPath/37_137/Shotguns/Weatherby+Shotguns

Well an old 870 wingmaster is about the only shotgun I've ever shot much, it was my dads and he did care for bird hunting much so it has had very little use, if the weatherby is of the same quality as the old wingmaster its a keeper. I do think I'll be trying to find a new stock set for it, never really liked camo stocks.

Weatherby's stringent specs and quality control are proof the Turks can build a decent gun. Cabela's Dickinsons are another excellent example of good Turkish gunmaking. I see no big difference between today's Wingmasters and the older ones except for style. The ergonomics of the Weatherby are real close to a Remington, and to me that's a good thing.
