Agree. I was given my Wingmaster for Christmas when I was 16 back in the mid-80s. Such a great gun.
It use to be I would have said 870 hands down. But now? I would take the 590. Now if I could find a decent used 870 Police Magnum at a reasonable price I would most likely go that route.

"Still got the shovel"
I saw some at scheels they look like an 870 expressRemarms does not list a field master
On their website, I see them for sale online I wonder it they are just rebranded sportsman's models ,
from what I have read the express will be discontinued , I bet they are just selling of what express inventory that was left behind-I don't understand/know if the "Express" name will be gone indefinitely;
Pet Peeve: Folks, please post any web-links and be specific when posting as best you can. I can't tell what shotguns are being talked about when using pronouns like "it" (870 Express Fieldmaster or other) or even "590" (590 being different from 590A1) as there are so many models; and again, I understand Remarms' website may not even list what is being sold at Scheels.com or Gunbroker.com. Thanks
picked it up today and it is really nice , fit and finish is much nicer then an express , slide racking is smooth and feels like a solid shotgun
the serial number is a RA prefix instead of the R only prefix on the express I have seen. since this was the first new design Rem arms 870 the my local
FFL and I had seen we both agreed it is a much needed improvement for the 870 and hopefully Rem Arms will regain some of the quality the Remington once had
guess time will tell
