Hey guys,
Just got my first Sig Sauer about five hours ago. Its a Sig P238 2-tone. The only other handguns I have owned are a Glock 31, XD9, P22, Ruger P345, and a PT1911. While I have owned these firearms, I know I am by no means a expert at all.

Is there anything in particular that I need to know about this gun or Sig Sauer in general?

What do I need to know about cleaning it, before shooting, etc.

Thanks!

I recently purchased a NIB Sig Sauer P290.....It was fine for about 400 rounds then the trigger stared failing to reset, the pistol was sent back to SIg for repair which took a month. When arrived it was functioning worse then before I sent it for repair....with light strikes on just about every round.
Is there anything in particular that I need to know about this gun or Sig Sauer in general?
So I'd say yes, pray it doesn't break....

My wife purchased a P238 for her 'summer gun'. We shot about 250 rounds thru it out of the box, no issues. Back at the range the next time, another 200 rounds no issues so far. Both factory FMJ and hollowpoint ammo. Only complaint is Sig only includes 1 magazine and they want $46 for one. I picked up a couple from Midway for $14.99 and they have worked flawlessly so far.

This is something that I will say but I am not the most knowledgable, as a sig owner the most discussed thing on lube is how much. Sigs like to run wet but not drippingly so. Go to www.sigarms.com and under one of the drop downs you will find videos of how to clean and lube your sig. The guy that does these videos makes it so simple an idiot could understand it (i'm the idiot) also if you will register on sig forum there are lots of guys there with much more knowledge than I and will be glad to share.Good luck with your new purchase and congrats.

SIG was running a special on their P238 7rd .380 ACP Magazine with X-Grip Extended awhile back. 3 for about $109 delivered. You might give them a call to see if they're still available. I received mine about two weeks ago. SIG Customer Service Department: Phone: (603) 772-2302 (press #3 for Customer Service)
