I just wanted to let you know that Tech-SIGHTS has developed a new aperture sight for the Ranch Rifle and Mini14s. We designed the sight for the new 5800 series Minis and Ranch Rifles. With a conversion kit it will also fit the Pre 2005 Ranch Rifles that have the fold down sight. The sights are click adjustable for elevation and windage and made in all steel for durability. The sight will be available in late November or early December. Here are a couple shots of the sight mounted on a pre 2005 Ranch Rifle and also a 5800 Mini 14.

Let me know what you guys think of the new system. It gives the new models greater ease of adjustments and provides the old Ranch Rifles with a sight that is an improvement over Ruger's new rifles.

I'd be interested in that. You give any thought about different size apertures for those of us who might benefit from that?

I love it. The only questions I have are:
1. What is your web address?

2. do you think it will be possible to develop a sight with M14-style windage and elevation knobs?

3. How much is it?

barfly,
We just introduced a insert ready aperture system (IRAS) for our 200 series sights. This MINI200 will also accept the IRAS aperture system. This aperture allows 3 different size inserts from .042", .062" & .086"

DannyinJapan,
We did consider the Garand/M14 sight mechanism but it would be VERY costly to reproduce.

We have not set a price yet but our target price range will be between $59.00 and $69.00.

Looks great, and thank you for bringing it to our attention on THR. You guys have really made an outstanding product for the 10/22.

I'm a potential customer: I'd like to change out the worthless flip rear on my Ranch Rifle.

What is the height for scope clearance? I have an old Weaver K-4 on my 188-, and if this sight will fit below it, I'm hooked.

Also, will you offer both flip- and elevation aperture types? (the flip, if given a third flip option of totally down, might accommodate a scope better (but i realize that this request is a sub-market of a sub-market)).

Ok, how about the M-14 style flash hider/front sight idea?
NOBODY makes a decent front sight/flash hider for the 580s and I think it would be the perfect mate for this new rear sight.

The new sight is compatible with the standard front sights. We have been looking at the front sight on the Mini/Ranch Rifle and may look at a design that would give a finer post. The stock front sights are robust but a little on the thick side for my taste. The thicker front sight is easy to pick up in low light but is a bit challenging for target shooting.

I'm in as well. Please let us know when available. How does it mount? Use the existing components or does it require machining?

Thanks,

RMD

Interesting idea, but IMHO the Mini's strengths do not lie in trying to make it a match or range rifle - as a potential buyer, I would respectfully request that you do nothing that would limit the usefulness of the new rear sight with the issue front sight. (I can't imagine what you could do, other than go to a fixed, small ID aperture, that would have that effect, but wanted to express that for your consideration.) Please carry on the good work and advise when available.

Danny, i got a great deal on my Ranch because the previous owner had dinged up the barrel (aesthetic damage only) trying to remove the front sight. By all accounts it is a tough operation, and one for a gunsmith, not an AR-"builder." I think that would further limit the number of people who'd want to buy one.

1KPerDay,
The sights are are constructed of all steel parts making them very durable. This combined with the easy click adjustments on windage and elevation makes for a great upgrade to the stock Ruger sights. We have not set a price yet but our target price is between $59-69.

I really like the tech-sight setup I have on two 10/22 models, and on my SKS.

MrsBFD's mini-14 may be ditching the scope for this when it becomes available, assuming similar installation and quality to the previous purchases.
