New Smith & Wesson pistol rebate?

Someone mentioned in the Smith & Wesson forum that S&W will be running another rebate on pistols starting Oct 1:

Does anyone have more information about this? Like a link to the offer details and rebate coupon? I am about to order an M&P9 and I would like to make sure that my purchase qualifies for this rebate (if it exists).

The only rebate I currently see on S&W's website is for hunting rifles.

I already want a full sized M&P 9 and more mags, but I have to sell my slightly used RCBS
powder scale/dispenser first. That and some other Gunstuffs, before the BOSS lets me buy

Smith and Wesson has been hitting the rebates hard to get market share and it surely worked on me. I went from having no Smith & Wesson pistols to having three. The old rebate with the $50 and two free magazines got me a full size M&P .40 and a full size M&P .45. Those M&P's are already a great deal but the cash back and the mags definately made the purchase easier for me. They also had a $100 cash back rebate for their 1911's and I was "forced" to buy one of those too. Needless to say, my wife was not happy!

Wow, budsgunshop.com has the M&P 9c for $439 shipped. After the $50 rebate, that means I'll get the gun for $390 (shipped), plus transfer fees. That's one heck of a deal and one I could not pass up! I guess I'll try the new M&P in person now!!!

I called my local dealer and they want $549 for the gun, plus 8.25% tax, so that's right at $600 ($550 after rebate). I'm all for buying locally, but $150 difference!!!! Can't do that, sorry. Heck, that's almost a tank of gas.

$549 is a bit high but that can be based on the demand in your area. In Central FL, the plain M&P runs about $469.

Generally, the best prices for a gun around here can be found at either a gun show or at the local Academy Sports. Academy is a pretty large chain, similar to Dick's Sporting Goods. Academy sells these guns for $529, so I guess my local dealer wasn't TOO far off of that. But, Buds has them beat by quite a lot.

I ran across a truckload sale at a gunshow(that place where you never find deals) on the full size M&P 9mm for $400.00 early this year when the rebate was $50.00 plus 2 free mags by mail...should have bought 2 because everybody wants mine.

I think I better give S&W a call before they start rolling out this rebate and have a shortage of magazines again
