Years ago my father gave me a Hawthorne 30-06 he purchased in 1957 from Montgomery Wards. Sometime before he had cracked the stock and it had been fitted in a synthetic stock obviously not by a gunsmith.. The stock has been fitted with a dremel tool and looks terrible. Is there anyplace to find a stock already made for this gun? Can someone refer me to a gunsmith that can fit the gun? The gun has a semi mauser action, so I have been told. It is not a valuable gun but means alot to me.

If you supplied the model number somebody will look it up and let you know who manufactured the gun so you will be able to search for the proper stock.

I could not find anything on a Hawthorne Model 760. but I did find the Model 750A sold by Montgomery Ward which was a Mauser 98 action.<http://www.gun-data.com/Montgomery_ward_firearms.html>
