New Stores in NY Burbs

Gander Mountain will be opening a store up near Middletown in Orange COunty. There is talk of a Cabellas opening up near Newburgh in Orange County. Rumor has it the Cabelas wil be built on a 180 acre site,

PATH, I believe the Gander Mountain is already open--I just drove past it a few days ago. I was, however, pressed for time and could not stop there. But next time I go to Middletown, it's Gander time.

They opened up a huge Cabella's just south of me maybe 6-8 months ago. The prices aren't anything to write home about but they don't charge admission like Disney World.

Thruway sports

Have any of you folks been to Thruway markets in Walden? How would Thruway compare with Gander Mountain or Cabelas? I've never been to Gander Mountain or Cabelas, but have purchased online from Cabelas.

does Gander mountain have any disney-like displays (freshwater fish tanks with live fish, etc.) like a Bass Pro Shop megastore has?

Thruway Sports has a large selection of guns and hunting outfits and accessories. It is a nice store. I don't think they'll be able to match the selection and prices of a Gander Mountain or a Cabellas. I used to go up for the ammo sales they used to run every couple of months.

I am told Gander Mountain has an indoor body of water where you can try out kayaks and such! If Cabellas opens up you can spend a da and not see everything. Disneyland for hunters and shooters is what it is!
