New to Concealed Carry

After having the Sig p250 .40 and a Glock 30 .45 I settled with a Ruger SR9c for CC. It fits in a Supertuck and vanishes on me. I shoot the 9 better than the .40 and the Glock was too bulky to carry concealed. YMMV

There was a home invasion three years ago in my neighborhood where the home owner was home when the BG broke in..long story short... the home owner shot the BG TWICE (once in the left hip, and the other in the left lung) with his .40 cal and the BG RAN OUT OF THE HOUSE, HALF WAY DOWN THE BLOCK BEFORE HE COLLAPSED!!

Wait...are you trying to tell me that .40 stopping power is just hype? But it's caliber starts with a 4, it can't be! ;)

Who woulda thunk? Now i gotta go to Gander Mtn and trade in my 1911 and XD SC .40 and buy a superduperwondergutbustingwonder9.

I guess I asked for it...

I was looking for opinions on .40 SW concealed carry pistols and instead it seems some of you want to make a debate on .40 v 9mm. I'm sure there are plenty of threads out there to debate that, I was looking simply for feedback on firearms in .40 caliber so I could make a wise decision on my purchase. Thanks for those who did keep on topic, the info helps a lot and just to update, I'm still looking. With the feedback here and the firsthand info being spoon fed by different firearms dealers I've been speaking with, I'm leaning towards XD. Every different dealer I speak with seems to have pros about Sig and cons against M&P's or vice versa (Walther, Kahr, etc), but they all thus far have spoken highly of Springfield's XD series. Most likely, my first will be XD. The pistols that follow will be decisions based upon owning my first...

Also, just to clarify myself: I'm not ignoring posts. Some of you post stories or your opinions (the latter being what I asked for about a specific caliber); that's great! That does help.. but frankly if you're going to post a story, at least back it up with something that I can follow up on, such as a news article link. I'm still in the military, do you know how many stories I hear? Unless it's first hand and your opinion is based upon that experience, how does that affect my judgment? Even then, adrenaline pumping, heat of action overbearing fact... Just trying to reiterate the fact that I posted looking for opinion on .40 S&W pistols, not a debate over calibers and their "stopping power". Thanks THR members!
