Well, let me add my welcome to the mix; it's great to hear that you're returning to your roots. The politics since your departure have changed dramatically, as you've found out, but good souls like you and your wife will make the return to better way a whole lot easier. Thanks for taking an active role....and let me know if I can be of help.

Moving forward I can only hope that I can make some difference.

Every new eye and mind that opens makes me happy, even if the conclusions they come to are different than mine. I hope you enjoy your new hobby and introduce it to many others. :)

Welcome!

Cripes I thought my state was bad!

The line I always hear is that most police like armed law abiders but the political brass is anti-gun. More and more I see examples that that isn't true.

(Loved the line about how you felt like a 12 year old throwing apples).

Welcome from across the world and the political spectrum. I thought our firearms permit hoops were a bother to jump... :scrutiny: but, I must say, your public "servants" do take the bisquit. :D

Stay around, stay safe, igor

Welcome to The High Road.

Sorry to hear of your problems with the permit process.
I’m about your age and remember bringing a 30-06 to school to show off. No one thought it was strange, in fact my chemistry teacher kept it in his office for me so I wouldn’t have to drag it around all day (it didn’t fit in my locker).

As Lennyjoe said, no question is dumb. There is a wealth of knowledge in the members here, on everything from technical firearms questions to negotiating the bureaucratic labyrinth to civil rights activism.

The Goose

Welcome to THR and I sympathize. Luckily I live in KY...a very Gunfriendly State. You could always move here and bring your 50 jobs with you.:D

It was worth a try. It stinks to be treated like a criminal just for exercising your rights.

i too would like to say welcome. and way to hit the ground running. as one of the younger members (20) here there this definatly a lot of things to be learned here. hey don't feel so bad here in ohio no law abiding citizen can legally carry concealed. Though thankfully we just got CCW passed today and the first permits should be out by summer.

welcome aboard and keep fighting, we are always going to have to fight to keep our country and the rights we are granted.

Welcome, Goose! Glad you're aboard.

Just be careful in the "Hunting" forum.

:D only kidding. Hope to read Mrs. Goose's comments when it's convenient, too. You've found a great place to exchange ideas and experience.

The Goose

Welcome To THR !

Get the Mrs. to join us, quite a few ladies here...skeet huh? Well heck visit the Shotgun Forum, if it flies it dies...if we can see it - it's dead..skeeters have fun 25 ways in 8 different positions...;)

A hardy welcome to the Mr. and Mrs. Goose.
Sorry to hear of the plight you have found ourself in, but it's good you have refound your roots. Now send your fellow new shooting family and friends this way also. The more the merrier.
We don't care if you got questions, want to brag, or having one of those dreaded days and need an ear to bend. We will be here. There is just one small problem though, we can spend every single penny in your pocket. Hang around and the bug bites then you will see what we mean by firearms breed. :D

Welcome!

Boston is a great city (even if it is chock full of misguided politics). My wife is from a Portuguese neighborhood in Cambridge, and my son has been to Boston Children's twice for open-heart surgeries and once for angioplasties. Best children's hospital in the world.

While I was up there with my wife and son this past January, several Boston members of the High Road offered support and encouragement, and one even mailed me several gun magazines to read during my downtime, for which I was grateful.

I have to say it is chilling to see "The Spirit of America" on Massachusetts plates, however, given the attitude of the commonwealth government toward its citizens--or subjects, as it seems to consider them. Nothing against Massachusetts, just your politicians . . . :scrutiny:

Welcome Goose and Mrs. Goose! There's nothing we like better around here than an open mind.

And MA can use all the help they can get on the freedom front...one goose at a time, one goose at a time.

- Gabe :)

Welcome to The High Road, Geese. :D

I remember growing up in Southborough in the 40s and 50s; our neighbor was a sherrif's deputy and taught me to shoot a revolver in the apple orchard behind the house.

Inexcusable for a public servant who is paid by your taxes to treat you that way. I gather the liberal infection has gotten critical in the Bay State.

Welcome Goose!

You probably have already been told this, but make sure you get a Class A License that says "for all lawful purposes".

The Class A will allow you to have Hi-Caps, and "for all lawful" purposes will allow you to CCW for defense.

The decision to put "for all legal purposes" on your class A license, as you probably know, is entirely dependant on the veiws of the police chief of the town in which you live.

I applied yesterday, and was entirely denied. "We don't issue that the first time" I was told. "The chiefs are all getting sued when they give a carry permit to someone who doesn't really need it and they do something dumb with it" is what I was told.

The towns vary around here. Some issue carry licenses only. Some never, ever do, unless you are LE. I'm not sure where Burlington is on this list... from your report, it doesn't sound good. Good luck to you though.

I wish you lived in Texas where the laws are not nearly as restrictive. We always need more good people.
