Hiya all.

I just recently bought a gently used Rem 1100 for $400. Looks like it has only been shot a few times. Barrel, internals, stock, reciever, all clean. This is going to be a beginner's gun for skeet (the beginner being me). It has a Modified Choke field barrel on it, single bead with vent rib. My question is, can I have the barrel fit for interchangeable choke tubes, and is there a smith near me in Michigan that can do it? Or should I pony up for a new barrel?

IMHO ...I would always save the original modified choke barrel and buy a different barrel if that is what you want. The original permanant modified choke barrel will probably suit your needs as a beginner better than you think. You can buy another barrel for just a little more than modifying the original. Then you will have two!

Enjoy your new hobby! Just be aware that it becomes addictive :) Trap has become that way for me.

Ya , keep the mod barrel and buy another . Check out ebay . I have bought a couple barrels off of there and made out pretty good . :D
