P245, circa 1998, good condition, some external wear, internals look great, some wear marks where slide meets frame (no different than my new P227). Questions: recoil spring (blue) seems too easy to rack versus my P220 - same spring. Haven't shot it yet but wondering if it make sense to change out that spring now - don't want to drive to the range and have issues. Also, what other parts could a novice change out without getting in too deep? I've looked at the schematics and the other springs seem straight forward - but I don't want any issues.

I know this is long - thanks for the help.

Pics???

Top Gun Supply will have any springs and parts you might need. Doesn't hurt to replace the recoil spring if the round count is unknown.

I recently bought a well used and dirty Sig X5 and I replaced,

recoil spring
mainspring
trigger bar spring
slide lock/take down lever spring
firing pin spring and positioning pin

If it had a decocker, I would've replaced that spring as well

The firing pin channel was very dirty with carbon and brass flakes. Removing the FP requires the proper punches and work area though. My gun needed the FP channel to be cleaned out

I consider replacing springs on a used gun simple maintenance and puts the gun at "square one" It's a small price to pay, and I enjoy doing the work and performing a detail strip & clean

Took it to the range yesterday and shot 100 flawless rounds thru it. Accurate, easy to shoot. great purchase. Thanks for all the advice. I did buy the RS which I will keep in my range bag.

Not a fan of the contrast sights - my old eyes had a tough time with alignment.
