I do quite a bit of swapping and trading. Found my way into a browning a-bolt stainless the other day. I only buy 30-06 rifles as i'm just partial to that caliber. I've never owned a browning bolt action, so I figured I'd give it a whirl. First impressions were that I liked the gun, but the stock is the ugliest thing I've ever seen in my life. Some weird blue camo pattern with skulls in it.. ugh, when I come across a new stock, you bet your butt it'll be changed, for now I'll probably just put some camo tape on it.
I put a low cost optic on it but one that I've always liked, went out yesterday to site it in... WOW! I don't know if I've ever shot this well personally, but the rifle is amazing! I'm fairly poor so I use the low grade federal 180gr. hunting ammo (stuff you get from wally world for 16 dollars a box). I only have 30 rounds and with the recent gun craze ammo has been non-existent so I only shot enough to get the scope zeroed. after 3 shots it was on zero. Changed targets and put 4 more through it, well under 1 inch!!! I want to call it 1/2 inch but might be a little bigger. The third out of the 4 shots I flinched and knew it was going astray, but 3 of them you could easily cover with a quarter.
What a gun! This one has found a permanent home! I may get poor and have to sell it to pay a bill with, but I'm going to really try to keep this one around! Now to do something about that hideous stock!
p.s. I'm mainly posting this to brag a bit on my new gun and if someone like me is doing a quick internet search for this gun, maybe it'll help them in deciding whether or not to purchase it... Oh yeah, paid $485 for it ;-)
