I've done this a couple times in years past on rare occasions, but now it's becoming a regular occurrence - done this 3 times in the last 2 weeks. Here it is:

Carrying OWB, strong side (although this could work with IWB also). Using a covering garment (jacket). Go to lunch in restaurant. Have to find one that has booths. Ask for a booth, and sit with strong side (right side in my case) on the inside, toward the wall. AFTER being seated, remove jacket while sitting, and let jacket drape down over the gun, and I even reach over and tuck the jacket in on top of the gun a little bit, to make sure it doesn't fall off. Eat. Reverse process. Leave. No one is the wiser, and you don't have to take the gun off. You could also do at a table (not booth), but I wouldn't try it unless I were in a bit of a dark corner.

And since everyone seems to like polls, I'll make one too. :)

i would try it but like samuel adams, without the jacket part. i feel that in the event that you did need to access the weapon and the jacket is tucked around it, it could cause a hang-up when trying to draw or even an accidental discharge (though that does sound a little far-fetched).

I voted "other" I have done/do this without a coat covering it while I am sitting. The first time that I did it was around Christmas. We (wife, BIL,BIL's GF) had been shopping at the mall. We went to dinner afterwards without even thinking I had taken my coat off while standing next to the table, NOBODY even noticed. And my dinner guests are ALL non gunners.

I always try to sit so I can watch the doors and the people coming in, regardless of which side it puts toward the aisle.

If I'm concealing any kind of belt holster, I just wear my shirt over it. If I happen to have a need for a tucked shirt and concealment, I pocket carry. Often times though, I'm open carrying.

Open Carry in VA is OK anywhere unless specified (like the gun-free student killing zone at VA Tech). CC is OK if you have a eprmit but you have to go to open carry in a place the sells booze. Makes no sense to me and we are fighting it in VA.

nope, i just sit down and take off my coat, prefer strong side towards wall. if not ill sit down in a chair and then pull my coat off, it covers it enough, and i don't really care if anyone sees it, let them worry themselves while they eat.
