saw this one a couple of weeks ago and it was still on the shelf when I walked through the Evil Pawn Shop Friday,,,so after some haggling it walked out the door with me for a grand total of $400, kinda different, cool history behind why it was built, (was built for Colt and they backed out on CZ,look it up and read about it) decided it needed to join my toy box of .40s . I found a new in the wrapper IWI 941 Jericho 13 round mag Saturday that will fit and work in the 40B for $20 not a bad week so far danceban.gif

I put 1 round through some water jugs then came up on target from 15 yards and put 9 rounds on target as fast as I could get a sight picture not a great group but not bad since I had never shot this gun before,,,,

Nice gun!
If you can hold onto it for 20-30 years it will become a desirable and hard to find gun.
Not many made but it hasn't become a "must have" for collectors.... yet.
Do some research if you haven't already.
It is an example of a failed, short marriage between Colt and CZ.

The mag bodies are the same for the 40B and other fullsize CZ-75Bs in .40, as only the mag base plates are different. Any standard .40 CZ full-size mag should work (maybe with some tweaks to their base plates) I think there's a gap, otherwise -- but it's been a while since I've had a 40B... If the mags you mentioned work without modifications, stock up, unless they're expensive. (If you can just get CZ-40B mag bases for those mags, that will let you use almost any CZ-compatible magazine if you swap out the bases. I don't know if any can be had from CZ-USA.)

Nice pistol! With that type of shooting at 15 yards it seems that it would be good for an IDPA event.

The Colt Z40 was dao. The CZ 40 is a full size RAMI. I have one. The tag is still marked Colt Z40

OP congrats on your purchase. I have owned a CZ40B since 2008. I find it a superb pistol. Very very accurate and uber reliable.

Congrats! I have a CZ 40 P, which I believe has a similar slide, but different frame. I've thought about getting a CZ 40 B, too, but one uncommon CZ is enough for me. ;) Have fun.

Interesting find! Saw one years ago at a gun show and while the grip design was not really suitable for my smaller size hand I thought it was a very well made gun.

out by my car and saw this illegal alien at my target stand 90 yards away, took 2 shots and went out to see if i got him, results 50% but if that is where martian lungs are I ruined his right 1 with that WWW 180gr. JHP.

walked back out to my 20 yard stake and ripped out some fast cm shots then slowed down a little for the head, pulled one hard left and gave mini-Mike a flesh wound, I really like the way this CZ shoots banana.gif

First time I've seen one of these. That thing is cool as hell. 1911 meets cz75,what's not to love? Congrats!

here is the 40B beside my 5" 1911, this is probably as close as I'm ever going to get to a .40 1911 Commander but so far I am very impressed with this pistol, went ahead and ordered a spare mag for it, a 12 round SP-01 mag that will give me 2 extra shots over the original limited 10 rounder that came with it, even though the 40B is a little thicker than the 1911 they fit the hand nearly the same do to the little extra length front to rear in the 1911 grip, carrying cocked and locked gives it the same manual of arms as the 1911, as far as quality the 40B is a 2001 and it is nearly immaculate so I figure it will outlast my ability to shoot it.

all pics are with the muzzles lined up except the top view

Only if it had the Colt rollmarks. With the CZ rollmarks it is just another in a long line of Frankenguns. Not that there is anything wrong with that. CZ is king of the frankengun.

To the OP nice pickup hope it shots well.

While CZ has built a LOT of Frankenguns (like the CZ-40P, which included a modified P-01 frame and a 40B slide) and a variety of different slide and frame combos, I'd argue that the 40B was cut from whole cloth and was a pretty decent gun.

They might even hold their value a bit better than most standard CZ-75B .40 models (which seem to have disappeared, over the years) -- but I agree that the CZ-40B won't becpme "collector" guns. That said Colt Z-40 might be collectible, if for no other reason than the HORRENDOUS Colt 2000 seems to be (very) slowly moving into that status. (I've shot a Colt 2000 and HORRENDOUS isn't appropriately descriptive.)

I had a 40B and wish I still had iit -- I didn't care for .40 S&W back then, but am comfortable with it, now. I'll trade back into one, one of the days...
