I just picked up a Model 49.
It was filthy when I got it, looks like it'd been shot a lot and never cleaned, and there was some kind of cigarette-tar-like goo all over the muzzle, the front sight and the front of the cylinder.
Someone stupid's been inside this guy several times, as the sideplate screws are chewed up, and it looks like it had a clipdraw (or something like it) on it at some point, as there are two extra holes drilled vertically, about half an inch apart, in the sideplate. There's also some light peening to the top edge of the sideplate.
However, the trigger is very nice, with a light single action and a smooth double action, with no stacking.
Spent a couple hours cleaning it up, and apart from the screwed up screws and the extra holes, it's actually in fairly decent cosmetic shape, all things considered. Some scratches, some pinpoint rust spots, and the usual wear to the backstrap and front strap.
Not bad for $150.00.
