My in-house mother in law has sound and light activated migraines that don't mesh well with my 3 kids, spurring me finally to try and find adequate filters for her.
Came across a few posts here about the Surefire passive ear filters and for the price, couldn't resist sampling a pair for her (ep3s) and one for myself. (4's) about $15 a pair.
SO far so good, haven't been to the range with them yet, but the wife and my kids assure me they were screaming their heads off when I first put them in and asked them to do their worst. Still have that tinny muffled sound that all earplugs give, but thin, clear sound cutting through that.
I probably should have given my mother in law her pair BEFORE the testing... Oh well We'll see if they prove their worth over the next few weeks.
Stacked with the usual cups, brought everything to a still audible whisper. I think the plugs themselves are rated at 24db reduction alone.
Will try to get the wife or my old man to the range and give them a more intense test.
Anyone else have any familiarity with this style of filter?
