CZ75's are my favorite service pistols. In 9mm I have two full-sized steel Tanfoglio clones and a compact polymer Turkish clone. But I didn't have a full-sized polymer version. Perhaps you can guess where this is heading...
I decided to keep my eyes open for a full-sized polymer 9mm CZ or clone thereof. They were open off and on for a while. I almost kind of went to sleep at the wheel, eventually.
But I saw a full-sized Turkish clone for ridiculously cheap on GB last week and won it for a bid of $159. With tax, shipping, FFL, etc it was $230 OTD. It seems like I've run across lower used pistol prices lately. Hopefully it's a trend.
The CZ action locks up like most modern pistols - like a Browning Hi-Power. The slide sits inside the frame, instead of on the outside like most pistols. It's DA/SA with a manual safety. The magazine holds 15 rounds. The ergos work extremely well for me.
This one was carried in a holster enough to show wear in a few spots. It was shot enough to make the rails shiny in places, but not enough to make a strong "smiley face" near the end of the barrel. It was dusty inside and probably hadn't been cleaned since it was last shot.
SAR did a nice job. The polish on the barrel and feed ramp is excellent. The fit and finish are very good overall. The trigger is extremely nice. Might be the best DA CZ trigger I've felt. The rear sight is drift-adjustable. I wouldn't mind if the sights were a little larger - that's my only criticism so far.
I'll take it to the range next week. If it shoots fine (which I expect it will, from the looks of it), I'll have two polymer service pistols with decent triggers. The PPQ has a good trigger, too. The rest are rubbish.
I'm not sure which varieties of mags will and won't fit the SAR's. If anyone happens to have any information on that, I'd appreciate it.
I've owned two of the SAR compact CZ clones, and now this full-sized one. So far I've been impressed by all three. If you're in the market for an inexpensive CZ clone, you might want to check them out.
