I got one before they dried up!
Purchased used for under $450. and it came with the factory box and standard accessories plus a tac-force soft case, scope mount & 10 hi-cap magazines. (obviously the EOTech didn't come with it!)
I know this seems expensive for a range toy, but did i do alright?
Taking it out tomorrow if it quits snowing, should be fun to make some noise.

Yeah, if i want to spend another $100. on the stock plus $200. for the ATF's permission slip and then I'm obligated to buy the forend w/ pistol grip...
Maybe someday, but not anytime soon.

That sucks the fake compensator now is NFA, what in the world...

that was the original GSG-5 SD fake can, but how the ATF passed it, and now saying it's (GSG-5SD can) a NFA item is beyond me.

What would your shooting grip and stance be with this? Two hands? If so take a pic. I am just curious, I always wanted to know how people hold these while firing. I would imagine it being unorthodox with no stock.

the idea when shooting is to have a sling on the rifle and to stabilize your shots by "pushing" the gun away from you. Much in the same way you would pull a rifle stock to your shoulder. That's what i do anyway...

The original GSG-5SD fake can was approved for importation.
Then GSG redesigned it (redesign included a hollow portion in the "fake can") and imported the redesigned one without getting BATFE approval.
BATFE got ahold of the redesigned "fake can" and after testing determined that it reduced the sound signature by a few decibals.
Since, it reduces the sound by at least 1db, it is now classified as a NFA device.
GSG has a replacement 5SD fake can already in production as a replacement part for owners of the affected GSG5SDs.

I had a GSG 5P, it shot fine, but was heavy and after complete disassembly I did not want it for any length of time. Reassembled it, took photos and sold it like it was stolen...Magazines are the worst part of it, but the firearm itself is made of things that make me think why did I buy this... but I do know why I sold it. I see the attraction to these models, and I hope everyone enjoys their purchase, for me it just did not fill the niche...$500 for a gun that cost around 90 bucks to make.

I also bought a used one with 1 magazine for $325. It has a flash supressor or something that appears intended to screw on the barrel, it's about 2 inches in length, but I cannot figure out how to attach it. There was no obvious tool, or threading, and the manual does not mention it. Any help?

It should have came with a wrench w/ 4 slots to unscrew the threaded barrel cap. The threads are actualy under the handguards and can't really be seen. I'm sure if you called ATI they could help.
