...it was Sunday and the range was open. Went and picked up this gem at Cabelas. I've been eyeing a 9mm of some sort for fun practice and someday competition and just couldn't decide what I wanted. I've loved the look and feel of the M92 since I first laid eyes on one. Took 650$ out of my bank account but it came with 2 17 round magazines and a 15 round magazine and all the usual fixings for handgun purchases.

Here she is, my Beretta M92A1

Why the M92A1? Weeeelllll... I have an XD45 Tactical, and while I love the platform, I wanted something different in 9mm. I've never been a fan of the cheap feeling plastic (or texture probably) used in the XDm and it doesn't really offer me much over my basic XD. The PD I hope to be joining is going to mandate a Glock and I REALLY dont like Glocks and wouldn't want one in 9mm since the PD requires .40 S&W or .45 ACP. The M&P9mm, well, The gun felt great, and I'm sure it shot great, but I couldn't get over the terrible trigger feel. It felt like, I dunno, a cheap airsoft gun trigger it was nasty and gritty and vague. SIGs where out of my price range and I'm really not a huge fan of SIGs anyway. No Kahrs at my Cabelas, or much of any other 9mm.

I didn't really want the light rail, but the M92A1 I had looked at 2 weeks ago without the rail had sold, and they wouldn't budge on the price of the standard 92FS they had and it had fixed sights.

No complaints, other than I haven't shot it, and the plastic spring guide feels like crap, but there isn't much I can do to get around that.

Only things I have left to purchase for it is a Holster, some self defense rounds, and all the stuff for my progressive press to reload 9mm. For now my 250 rounds of Magtech 115gr FMJ will have to suffice :)

Thanks guys, I think the part I love the most about her is that she resets in a couple of millimeters from full back. This should be an easy gun to shoot fast and accurately fast on that account alone. I have found a slight complaint, the beaver tail is kind of sharp and cuts into my hands. I'm kind of ham fisted anyway so I'm sure that is a me problem less than a firearm problem :)

New toy shoots well too :) 10 ring is about 3.5" across. 52 rounds shot from 12.5 yards and off some sandbags with Magtech 115 grain factory ammo. It actually shot better than my xd45 tactical did off the rest using taylored reloads. =O

Stays pretty clean too. Working on a load with win 231 and 124 grain berrys plates.

Thanks Get R Done Guns, I hope it will get much better. I added the Hogue grips to mine. Having ham hands kind of sucks some times. It's not every day you hear someone say "An M92A1 feels small in my hands" but it's true. The Hogue grips make it much better. I hope reloads will be just as accurate if not more accurate. Really though I need more practice standing. Shooting from sand bags is too easy.

I did replace the spring guide with a Wolff metal one. No modifications required and I don't miss the "captive" nature of the spring guide. Can't wait to find a good taylored load for her :)
