Saw a program on TV today, think it was something like " Ghost Town Gold". More or less same thing as the two guys going around digging thru trash and trying to find treasures. This one guy in his narration said he felt the people had place an old 1860 pistol on a rafter just so they would find it. The guy wound up buying it for $1500.00 and from what I saw it looked more like a modern reproduction over anything that would have been sitting in a barn for 30-50 yrs. I have owned and still own guns from the 1850-1870 and one in particular looks great for a 150 yr old pistol but what I have does not have rich bluing and sparkling brass. They never allowed the pistol to be filmed close in or on the right side which would have giving a few more hints as to the authenticity of what they had. Getting to the point now that these TV shows are more of a joke than an informative or entertainment.

I am a huge fan of any mainstream television show that portrays guns in a positive light. I could care less if they are accurate in their descriptions or historical information. That is secondary to the soccer mom who thinks... "Aww shucks... Maybe I will buy Biff that gun he has wanted for so many years..." after seeing shows like this.

TV - POSITIVE PORTRAYAL OF GUNS - GOOD THING in my book.....

Watched a show called "moonshiners" last night. They were saying that a wild pig that was around their still was a menace and the guy went to shoot it. They showed a couple of running pigs and refferred to one of them as "a female boar"! Now there's a pig I'd like to see!!

I nearly gave up on the History Channel after wasting 2 hours on "Apocalypse Island".

Where a couple of dunderheads mount an "expedition" to a supposedly uncharted Island to look at some rocks which they begin to imagine as statues....not even a kid looking up at the clouds would have seen what they purported to see.

They made a huge deal of how hard it was to get to the island, and that the island was virtually unknown and well off the beaten path.

I looked up the island after watching the show, and it not only has an airport, it also has a small town on it. History Channel should be ashambed of themselves for some of the tripe they have begun airing.
