but they feel that earning obscene amounts of money by making movies and shows that portray incredibly unrealistic or dangerous gun handling is okay.

Sorry, but I had to point out this misnomer. Doctors, Police officers, firefighters, garbage men, mechanics, carpenters, etc. EARN money. Actors are PAID. They haven't earned much of anything, especially not self-respect. Same goes for pro sports players. I cannot begin to explain how it infuriates me to hear so-and-so hotshot ball player threw a hissy fit because he was offered only $7.2M for 5 years. Most of us will not make that in a lifetime of real work.

no, liberal actors [ruined TV/movies].

Bingo.

To be honest, I don't even look for safe gun-handling in movies. I go to movies to be entertained, not to be a technical advisor. If it's a good movie, I'm not going to rip it apart for something like this.

"The Sons of Katie Elder" In the final shootout scene, Duke Wayne fires at least 15 rounds from his six shooter without ever reloading.

Why is it that the scifi programs such as Stargate and Firefly are the only ones where they show people practicing safe firearms handling?

TV gets a ton of things wrong, be they legal, medical, automotive, or firearms.

I just saw CSI:Miami, and they claimed that the internal contents of a guy's saddle bags (on a harlry) were 'in plain sight' when the guy called 'illegal search' even though they had to unbuckle it and open the flap to see inside.

A lot of gun oopses I just let slide, like jacking the pump and yanking the slide on a gun that should be loaded, or applying those same soundeffects to revolvers, safties being on during shootings, loaded chamber indicators showing an empty chamber during fight scenes, seeing the slide lock back and still hear a few more shots and see flashes, etc etc.

However, when the actual function of the gun has an important part in what happens in the scene, it is critical to get it right. If you have a russian roulette scene, you better well have a mockup that allows the cylinder to spin, or cut the camera back so you can;t tell it is just the actor rubbing the outside while a 'buzzz' sound effect is played. Same thing in the movie Desperado, when they keep on picking up guns only to find them empty, yet not a single slide locked back in the bunch.

What gets my professional blood boiling is shows like CSI and so on. I tend to rip them to pieces for being such hack jobs and alot of shows with archaeologists makes the baby Limeyfellow cry.

Easy Answer

NO!!! Movies have not been ruined for me by THR or any forum. Most movies are Hollywood garbage, and even good ones require a grain of salt...which is why I watch very few.
