I just like guns, old, new, and in between.

KW, what caliber is your Savage 99?Love the old and the new but there is something about the older guns. I have several that I would never part with. Old S&W Mod 28 from late 50's that still shoots like a dream, a worked over 29-2 that I had a partridge front sight with McGivern bead added in around 1980. That sight still works great with my aging eyes. Also have a 1952 Savage 99 with a Weaver steel k2.5 on it that I love to shoot. Still feels great walking in the woods with that rifle. Lots of rifle and guns I bought new in the 70 and 80's that are old now i guess.
But the new stuff is a lot of fun too, I have a RPR in 308 and 4 black rifles in various calibers and configurations plus some plastic wonder guns for duty use and daily carry. Guess like most of us there is a lot of fun and satisfaction in both the old and new.
I know I got started late in the gun collection game.Think of all the history you are missing, 1903, M1 Garand, 1917, M48.
.300 Savage.KW, what caliber is your Savage 99?
It wouldn't shock me if the mutated, post-apocalyptic survivors of humanity are still using 1891 Mosin-Nagant rifles in 2091......My Mosin-Nagant rifle made in 1939 is very enjoyable and still an effective combat rifle to this day:

Aside from magazine followers, baseplates, and grips, the only plastic pistol parts I own are the mag release on my S&W 422 and the left side safety lever on my Beretta M92.My oldest gun is a Remington #2 Rolling block. It was made shortly after the end of the Civil War. My newest is my Bushy AR-15. I'll be 70 this year and about half of my guns are older than myself. Plastic is for toys, and aluminum is for airplanes and beer cans. My Bushmaster is the only gun I own that that has aluminum and plastic in it's construction. Having said that, I grudgingly admit that both materials can be used in making some very fine guns.
But I prefer older guns made out of carbon steels and good ole' wood.
Ummm, M48?
