Today I picked up my Tanfoglio full-size, wonder finish 10mm. Took 3 days for the local dealer to find one and get it here. Paid $360 out the door. Yes, it was more than I wanted to pay, especially taking the risk of the problems that many of these pistols have, but I'm glad to say it is worth every penny. The case it came in is marked 2005, the rear sight is solid, slide to frame fit is great and it came with a 15 ROUND MAG (w/ the red follower)!!! I also order 3 more 15 round mags from another source and have them now. I took it home and spent 1 hour cleaning it as best I could, cleaning all the grease and junk out of the firing pin, slide, magazine well, etc. Lots of storage grease came out. I was now all set to try her out!

100 rounds and not one problem, shot great. I have to say that I shoot this witness more accurately than even my Steyr pistols. I shot 50 rounds of 180 gr. CCI Blazer (dirty stuff) and 50 rounds of HSM 180gr. reloads that are marked "Police Ammunition" from the local range. I could only get 14 rounds into the mags and even that was tough, I need to let them sit loaded for a while. I am very pleased with this pistol and it has become my new favorite. I'm going to buy 500-750 rounds of Miwall reloads tomorrow at the gunshow (assuming they bring 10mm) and when I have shot up all of it, I'll start reloading using the brass. Then I can try some real 10mm loads the way they were meant to be!

I tried some amateaur ballistics testing with 3 thick hard back textbooks and an 8x8 piece of wood. I was very impressed after trying out the penetration of 10mm next to my 9x19 pistols. Way more power and these are just wussy 10mm loads. Mags drop free too. I'm going to get a set of Hogue wrap around finger groove grips to put on it.

The shells ejecting 30 feet away are a hint that I need to get a 20-22lb. recoil spring, especially for the hot loads. I have been converted to 10mm. I no longer desire .45acp when I can have a 10mm. I'm already thinking about getting a carry piece in 10mm, either a compact Witness 10mm or a Glock 29 (most likely the Glock for carry).

Nice piece! I've been wanting one of those myself. Probably get the blued one, though. Hey, don't forget to check with Sam Barbakov on some nice grips. He's a good fella, and will go out of his way to ensure customer satisfaction. I'm having him make some for my CZ 75B, and he has been very meticulous, in our ongoing email dialogue, to ask the questions, and raise the points, necessary to ascertain my specs. Here's his site: http://www.czgrips.us/

Not a bad price either. Get yourself a stronger recoil spring, order some doubletap ammo and have a blast.

For my "hot" 10MM loads I use Power pistol, WLP primers and 180gr Hornady XTP bullets. Also, check out Blue Dot and 800X powders. I still have some 800X loads that I have to put thru a chrono. Will post the results in the reloading forum.
