They're getting there - I'm waiting for the .45 version of the XDM Compact or a Glock 30 Gen4 whichever comes first.

So when is this this supposed to be out? Is there any word on the bi-tone slide coming out eventually as well? I'm very interested in this gun!!!!

My wife has the xd9sc and I shoot it well. I think I shoot my G26 about the same or better.
I'd like a g19, but this 3.8" model is pretty interesting. Do you think they will come out with this size for the normal XD? I don't really care for all of the "M" stuff.

wonder what I could sell my glock for.... haha (jk)

Add a pinky extension to the standard mag like on the XD SC and you're GTG! I see one of these in bitone in my future, Springfield just keeps making guns that I really want.

Me too.

For me it's the grip angle that makes the difference.

I thought so, too. I always thought that's what my issue was. I had shot 20-50 rounds at a time through several glocks, always cursing the grip angle on an otherwise excellent firearm.

But after seeing that the g19 was the only handgun that hit the "sweet spot" in size for me without extensions...I bought one.

After shooting 200 rounds in a row and talking with knowledgeable, experienced trainers and experienced glock shooters; I found that the grip angle was easy to adapt to and a negligible difference. Simply practicing my presentation and dry firing for a few weeks corrected it. It also didn't throw off my technique with my 1911's, when I draw and present...my sights are still where they should be. My main issue was with the trigger. Is there anything wrong with it? No. Is it superior or inferior? No, but I don't like the feel and it takes some getting used to by many shooters who are new to glocks and accustomed to 1911 style triggers.

It's really sad that no one emulates the g19/23. They sell them as fast as they can make them year after year. It's just a great size. I'm not saying copy the design, but for pete's sake it seems like a no-brainer for a manufacturer to copy the size example set forth by a weapon that sells so well. I mean seriously, 100's of people like myself are willing to adopt to the g19/23 because there is no competition in it's size that doesn't require mag extensions to get your pinky on there. Do you need that pinky? No...but seriously XD, Beretta and whoever may read this...1000's of us really want a g19/23 sized alternative; give it to us and we'll but it in droves. I liked the size so much, that I bought it and trained myself to adapt and shoot well so I could carry it. Close to 1000 rounds before I felt comfortable to carry and operate the wrong gun for me in the right size. I don't mean to rant, but I hope some manufacturer rep reads this and will finally get it.

ForumSurfer,

The next time that you are in a gun store handle a CZ PO1 or a PCR. They are a similar size as the Glock 19, but have a more familiar grip angle. (To those of us used to a 1911.)

Wow. Another gun I "need" but can't afford. Considering selling my full-size XDM to fund this.

Does this still come with the XD 3 mag promotion?

Any idea on how long a XDM 45 Compact will be?

Anyone know if these are US or Croation engineered?

Don't care for XDms until night sights are available.
XDMs use XD sights, in case you didn't know--there are several models available. You are right though, factory night sights would be a nice option as they are considerably cheaper and the XD sights are supposed to be a real PITA to install.

After wanting many different guns and trading off ones which I thought I could do without over MANY years. I would like to relate some of my trades and such.
I got rid of my 38-40 M 92 Winchester so I could have a 30-30 Teddy Rosevelt Commerative. Big mistake both are gone now. My 1911 Colt with a fitted .22 Colt conversion for a SP1 Colt, mistake. My Smith and Wesson 57, High Standard Military Citation fluted bbl. gone.Star PD , comercial P-38 walnut grips with box, gone.
All of these and more because something new shiny and in the gun magazines caught my eye.
One of the big ones was the Thompson 45 semi-auto which I dumped for a Mitchel Arme stainless Luger. I still have the SS Luger almost sold it but was insulted by the deler who insisted he could get them for $450 . I wanted to order a case and he says "that was the price but there aren't any.''
My point is do not rush into spending your hard earned cash wthout doing your homework. I like to read and speak with others who have what ever it may be.
This is an outstanding place for that for sure.
If you can shoot what you want it can be a definite advantage in the choice.
I would not have bought the Detonics Pocket 9 if I had done this. GONE

IBEWBULL, you offer good advice. I too have made trades that I have regretted, and traded guns I can't get back for guns I don't have any more.

My general rule of thumb is now: Don't trade, only sell for cash. Only sell if you can get what you paid for it or more. Keeps me from buying so many guns, and I can say that I'm a lot more satisfied with what I've got.

Here's my current dillemma though: I have a full-sized XDM9, and I am very pleased with it. I shoot it the most of any gun I own, and shoot it both in competitions and as a recreational range gun. I almost never carry it because of the size though. I am debating selling it for the new XDM compact, but am hesitant to sell a gun that has proven to be reliable and accurate, and also one I have a lot of fond memories of.

Even my crowded safe would have room for an extra handgun.

Why do you have to sell one to get another?

Financial reasons. If I bought all the guns I had money for, I'd be flat broke. I have to set limits, and stay within them so long as my needs are met. Right now I have the XDM as a range/competition gun and a 442 as a carry gun, but obviously shoot the XDM a lot better.

Dcarch, do you mean from the Springfield lineup, or from my collection? The Compact fills a spot that neither my Subcompact nor the full-sized XDm fit. I loved to shoot my SC, but have been wanting an XDm, and the short grip suits me for my needs.

I'm sure over time the new-gun excitement will wear off, and I may find that the Compact wasn't all its cracked up to be. A whole bunch of range time and time spent on my belt will tell...
