On the barrel is stamped REMINGTON ARMS CO.INC.ILION,N.Y. MADE IN U.S.A. PAT. NO. 2,490,922 REMINGTON MODEL 514 .22 SHORT,LONG,OR LONG RIFLE no serial numbers but does have stamped on the left side of barrel the letters KE. Any help on dates or values on these two would really be apprieciated [spelling?] Thanks Jim

all one piece bolt is stainless,
Not stainless.
Firearms were not made using stainless steel at that point in history.

The bolt is chrome or nickel plated plain carbon steel.

I thought in IL, they just sent them straight to the Gulag.

Well actually they send you to Pat Quinn's house where they give you an anti-gun indoctrination, but it's esentially the same thing. ;)

It's probably chrome. I have a 67 from the first years of production. The bolt has lost most of the chrome. Despite it's poor condition, it's the most accurate .22lr I have ever shot. Way more accurate than I am. They are fun guns, and excellent rifles to start new shooters on.
