Hello,

I need help identifying an old Marlin rifle I recently purchased. It is a 22 long rifle semi-auto that is magazine fed. The only marking are on the top of the barrel stamped "The Marlin Firearms Corporation New Haven Conn. U.S.A - patented" and the side of the barrel at the receiver "22 long rifle only - smokeless greased"

The stock has a plastic unmarked butt plate.

The old style magazine holds 8 rounds and has the release button at the bottom rear of the magazine itself.

The safety is at the rear of the receiver. It is a flat bar of metal with a grooved finger tab that pulls to the rear to go on un-safe.

The receiver puts me in mind of a Winchester model 74 without the push button take down.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

Scott

Thank you

You guys are the best! I found a parts diagram on Numrich and it is definitely a Marlin A1 with an early type one safety. Numrich actually has the parts I need to repair this old girl an get her firing again. I can't thank you guys enough.
