Next gun? Gimme some ideas...

Hey SW,

Jus' curious how come you didn't list your 1911 in the list of handguns you own? Already having doubts about your TRP?

IF you have experienced GREAT results with your SA TRP, what I would do next would be to save up for a while and step up to a SA Professional :D

BUT.. since you've asked not to be recommended another 1911 I'll to another route.

My suggestion for your next gun should be the SIG P226. I know you're interested in these, and aside from 1911s, the SIG P Series are my next favorite platform. All the SIG's handle very well in my hand, they point well, they shoot very well, and have the smoothest autoloader triggers out of the box for a production pistol (of course that is not a 1911 :D ).

All the SIG's I've shot have been awesome. My personal German SIG goes to the range with me every single time. I cannot find another 9mm that would rival a SIG handgun.

If you have smallish hands, theres also the P225 which is a single stack 9mm in the P228 size.

Good luck :)

Black Majik, I had posted in another thread about the TRP - I traded it last week for a brand new HK USP and some $. I was not happy with Tripps work - I sent it back a 2nd time already, and was gonna have to send it back for a 3rd time because I wasn't happy with the finish on the slide.

I wanna try out a Sig Pro. I haven't held one, but it I've read a lotta good things about it.

I thiught the 226 was a bit to fat in the grip. I held one 2 days ago. I wanna see the 229 if I get a chance.

I lean toward the CZ family of pistols. For 9m/m, I'd suggest the CZ75 Compact (14+1 and very nice to shoot), for something a touch lighter, the CZ83 in .380 (13+1 and a very smooth trigger pull). That's about as light as I'd go, with the appropriate carry leather, and an extra mag or two. Just my opinion.

Sig Pro

I have a Sig Pro 2009.

Sounds to me like just the gun you're looking for.

Everyone in my family loves to shoot it, down to my 13 yr old daughter. The trigger is smooth as glass. A very long pull that gives you time to think about what you're doing. SA is very light.

The Cadillac of handguns.

How about a Ruger Blackhawk convertible in .357 Magnum with the extra cylinder in 9mm Luger? Single action, very accurate, not terribly expensive, and lots of fun at the range!

Well, it looks like the Walther P99 is coming back in the A/S configuration. I have a compact P99 A/S and love it. But I already have a full size SW99 - essentially the same gun. I thought I wanted a P99, but everytime I've had 2 of the same guns in the past, I always end up not using one and then selling it later. So, I think I will pass on that.

I also thought about some of the higher models of the HK USP - since I love my 9mm USP - but I found out that all of these models w/ adj sites have all black sights - no white dots. I don't like that.

So for now, the Sig Pro is the leader. But, I gotta wait for the next big Houston gun show to get my hands on one. If I don't like that, then I guess I'll just look around and see if anything interests me.

I've seen 9mm XDs for less than $400 at the last gun show. But, I don't think I want one.
