New Addition to my .45 ACP inventory I have a full size
S&W 1911 and a S&W 625 .45 ACP & .45 AUto RIm.

I got a new Colt Combat Commander - Combat = Steel Frame
Just because as well as always regretted selling one I had
back in the late '70s. A local gun shop which has a good
selection of 1911 variants from < $ 700 to $ 3K or so I
asked if they had a Commander. Presented with a blued
Carbon steel Colt I asked if they had a lay away policy.
$ 100 down and bllance in 90 Days. I was a goner.

It's a 1991 Series - which means '80 Series firing system and
enlarged ejection port and raised sights w/3 Dots - small convex
white dots. The trigger is a bit heavier than my S&W 1911 but
that one has some Ti parts in the ignition system and S&W
didn't tie the FPS to the Trigger Anyway the Colt is a bit
heavier but it's crisp let off with llittle take up.

Nice fit and finish - high polish on the slide's vertical flats
and the the rest is matte blue only really sharp edges
are the top of the rear sight and the front vertical edges
of the front of the slide. It came with 2 flush fitting
7 round mags. Nicer Blue box and larger than S&Ws Blue
Boxes fwiw./imho.

2 Range Sessions so far I used the stock Colt 7 Rd mags, and 2 Wilson
Combat ETM 8 rd mags, as well as a new'ish, Wilson Combat 10 rd mag.
Ammo: 50 Rd Boxes of 230 gr. FMJ CCI Blazer Brass, Armscor, Remington
UMC and Federal American Eagle. 250 rds A 50 rd box of Speer
Lawman 200 gr. FP TMC.

HD/SD JHPs 10 rds each of 230 gr. Federal Hydra Shok Federal HST ,
Prograde w/hornady XTPs and Hornady 'Custom' +P with the STps and
Barnes TAC XP 185 gr. @ 1,000 FPS Least muzzle flash and recoil with
the Barnes fwiw/

I think I got a good one, No FTF's or FTE's nary a bobble.

It's now at my Gunsmith's getting the same LH thumb safety
as my S&W 1911 - the Ed Brown Tactical Extended LH thumb
safety. THe stock COlt is sharp edged and I have some thing
of sore thumb with that so I'm making the thumb safety the
same on both '1911s'
