Does this look like a new mag to ya'll? My other NHMTG mags did not look like this.

I just received it from _____________ I emailed them with pics and they emailed me back and said:
The NHMTG is new and straight from NHMTG.All of their magazines have that type of finish wear. You will see the exact same thing on Okay and Colt branded magazines which are made on the same line.
Many buyers think they have received a used product and that is not the case. If you do some checking online you can verify what I am telling you about the NHMTG magazines.
So. I am asking. How about it. AC

I would have to say no, the 2nd side view from the top is what I base this on. There is a ton of extraction/insertion wear either they test the heck out of each mag or you were just unlucky enough to receive the one or two per however many they pull from the production line for testing, which they then tried to sell as new. The most probable explanation to me is that you are the 2nd owner of them. I have bought alot of mags from them and they always have come wrapped in plastic and looking pristine.

As one poster said that mag looks as though it was inserted enough to wear off the park finish, but it probably wasn't fired. Probably someone at wherever you bought it playing around with it and a rifle.

if ALL of their magazines look like that, then where'd they get the magazine they showed in their picture?

personally, i could care less if the mag is scratched up. it will get beat all to hell by me in a few range sessions anyway.

however, there is a matter of expectations. it could well be that all the mags are scuffed up like that from the factory, but if that's the case, the vendor should SHOW what the mags look like on their website, instead of substituting some other mag.

if you're not happy, send em back and swap for pmags

I would normally say they look used, but my S&W AR came with a mag just like this, and I know it was new.

+1 on pmags.

I've ordered a bunch of these mags for my dept. from Mark and they're new. It's the mil-spec dry lube finish that causes them to wear out so easily. Many of the 30rd mags that used to come with COLT rifles looked like that. Don't worry about it and just shoot it. IMO these NHMTG mags, which are all made by Okay Industries, are the BEST mags out there.

Do us a favor...

CLP the exterior of the mags and repost pictures.

NMHTG's look like crap when they're new because of the dry film they ship with.

ALTHOUGH... that mag was definitely inserted into a gun, given the "shinyness" at the top of the mag.

It just has a lot more wear than the one that came with my RRA, or any other OKAY, NHMTG, etc mag I have seen or had new. If you look close there is a distinct "G" & "O" scratched in it. I got some "used" military mags from a Uncle Sam that looked better. I'll just keep it, but I doubt I will be doing business with them again. I have had better luck with other vendors.

Sure, they are going to get scratched up, but I expect better new, or at least a better response. I felt sort of "brushed off" by his response. AC

Here is my RRA NHMTG mag, which has been to the range a few times.

Agreed, and I bought my RRA used. Slightly used, but still used.

+1 on that.

I have a variety of mags... NHMTG, D&H, CProducts, P-Mags. The NHMTG with dry lube finish look like crap and they have since day one.

Additionally, all of the above were purchased from 44Mag.com (aside from some Pmags from Brownells). 44Mag has great prices, ship quickly, and have been very good to me. The problem is the mag finish, not the vendor or the mag itself.

Dry lube finished wear out easily. Arfcom even has a page dedicated to refinishing them:

I'll also echo the comments on getting some Pmags.

That's a lot of storage wear, unusually high. I am sure they will make it right if you contact them.

You should always contact the vendor if you have complaints like these, most of the time, they will make it right.

FWIW, they should function perfectly fine and would probably be more hassle exchanging them than it is worth. As long as they function fine I am not worried too much about the look.

I did. Sent him a pic too. I asked about the wear on the internet as he suggested. Maybe I should have left out who it was. I am keeping it. I just thought it had a lot of wear for a new one. Wanted to know.

I ordered 10 from CMMG some time ago .. they all had a scuffed up finish, but I was assured they were in fact new and the scuffs were due to function testing. Seems I read this on arfcom and a couple other places as well.

.

If you bought those at 44mag.com don't they have a disclaimer for those NHMTG magazines?

Also like others have said that finish wears easily.

New NHMTG mags typically look like that.

Most (me included) buy AR mags for function, not looks, and the NHMTG mags are good mags.

UPS just dropped off 10 more new NHMTG mags, and that's what they look like, though the contrast of your pictures intensifies the visual effect of the wear.
