According to Hornady's website the 123 gr SST used in the test is .310. But I thought that Ruger went to .308 barrels in the Mini-30 some time ago. I'd think this is .308, but It'd be good to know for sure.

Between my brother and I we have 5 of the Ruger Americans in 4 different configurations. They all shoot very well. Not surprised that this one does too.

This is a lovely and cute rifle. I wish it came in a scout version with iron signs.

EDIT: I am curious, how much work that would involve and what sort of cost that would be.

A quick check shows they initially used a bit of a freakish barrel that had .311 initially but went down to .308 shortly after. Apparently they did that originally as .311 was not a common bullet diameter when it was originally introduced. Since 1992 all Mini-30s have had a proper .311 diameter barrel, which it should be as it is chambered in 7.62x39mm.

I took my 7.62x39 out the other morning. I discovered iron sights are useless if hogs come out real early. I saw a bunch and could not see my sights. Got to get a scoped rifle.
