I got my first nickel finish revolver recently and need some information about its care. I know I should not use Hoppe to clean nickel finish but is there anything else I need to be aware of? Is it okay to clean and lube with Breakfree? Is Gun scrubber okay? What should I use to clean the bore?

There are some areas on the revolver where the nickel looks dull and small areas with spots. Is there something I can use to polish these out?

Thanks.

Breakfree cleans ok and is safe on nickel.
You can lightly polish with Mother's Mag Wheel polish to get out the small
scratches and cloudiness. After, you can wax for more protection if you want.
(I use Renaissance wax).
Comes out nice....

Lighterfluid works great. No, I'm not kidding. BTW, the newer Hoppe's will not hurt the finish. But would I use it...heck no!!! :neener:

You want to avoid copper solvents, or if you do use them, clean up any spatters that get on the exterior surfaces. Copper solvents will penetrate the nickel and attack the underlying copper plating that is put on first for the nickel to adhere to.

Thanks.
I used Mother's Mag Wheel polish to clean it up and it came out real nice.
