NICS Denial - My story.

It seems like you need to be careful, when/if they come to home, and seize other firearms

Why would they? I am not a prohibited person. I know it, Arizona and New Mexico knows it, I highly doubt the feds are going to go to the trouble.

I know it's past the optimum time to have done this but, I'd still urge you go get some fingerprints from the local PD for identification purposes and submit the form with the $16 or whatever it is to the FBI for a copy of your record.

From your OP you've said they told you the reason for the denial was prohibitive information. Yet you've had no trouble passing a NICS check in the recent past. So it's entirely possible that particular, singular NICS check was just a screw up.

Reflecting on your past, you think you know the reason for the denial, and that's fine; but why would such a relatively old high misdemeanor wait for all these years to come to the attention of the FBI? One thing is certain, they know about it now since you've furnished them with the information.

The fact that you've been 'printed and checked many times before for various employment purposes is not relevant at this point; it's what they believed the story to be when you were denied the NICS check.

What I'm trying to get across here is to convince you to avail yourself of what the other side knows, or thinks they know, about you. It's almost free, you are entitled to it. Even at this stage you may still benefit from the knowledge; if nothing else you'll know, for sure, what you thought was the case really is the case, then you can just wait it out and go fishing :)

And, it takes a small fraction of the time to get the information compared to a NICS deny appeal.

As always, free advice on the Internet may be worth it, so this is still just my two cents. I wish you a speedy "proceed"!
