Hello all!

Hope you had a very merry Christmas and that Santa brought you everything you asked for. I myself only asked for one thing and found it nestled right there under the tree for me. I got a new xenon, lithium-powered flashlight! Its very wicked. Just about everything-proof with a neat push button tail cap that you can depress slightly for the temporary on. About a 1/2" diameter in the rubberized grip and probably something like five or six inches long. Oh, its a Brinkman by the way.

I thought I would just let you know that its just about the same beam as the surefire mounted on my 870 right now and it only costs 20 dollars. Ought to make a perfect general carry flashlight which I was looking for for quite a while. For anyone looking for the same, I highly reccomend checking out Walmart's sporting goods department where I found this thing at. (And the batteries are even included!)

Take care everyone! Hope someone finds this helpful.

Another good cheap light is a Dorcy that is also carried by Wal-Mart. It is the AAA-powered LED light. I bought mine about a year ago and it is better than the Streamlight LED that I bought in June. I have carried the Dorcy daily and it has suffered some abuse, including two trips thru the washing machine and it it still works.

The best part is it was all of six bucks.

HEY I bought that last week too

Damm nice light. Need a way to mount it though
Its a Brinkmann maxfire lx.

Hey, glad someone else found one and liked it as much as I did. Right now I'm just wondering if it will fit into any of those polymer belt holsters for lights. I think I'll try to keep it off most of my weapons, though my little mil-surp scout gave it a funny look so I might have to try out that combo.

If money wasnt so tight at the moment I'd buy another one of these ina heartbeat if only to be a backup.

Let me know if you figure out a cool mount for it.

I bought one last night. This is the best flashlight deal I've seen, and I'm a flashlight nut. My favorite flashlight is my Surefire 6Z and this light puts out almost as much light for significantly less money. It's well worth $20.

There are a few differences between the Brinkmann and Surefire.
1) The tailcap switch on the Brinkmann has an instant-on and a locking feature. I like the locking feature.
2) The tailcap switch does not protrude enough from the case to hold the switch on with your palm if you want to use a Harries technique with a handgun. You can lock the light on, but that's usually not a good idea.
3) With a Surefire, you're looking at a brilliantly white light. The Brinkman has a slight orange cast common to all incandescent lights.
4) I lit up the woods 100 yards away from my house with both lights and the Brinkmann was discerably less bright, but it still lit up the trees quite well.
5) The Brinkmann light is made in China. A Surefire G2 is $12 more and made in the United States.

As far as a mount goes, I'll bet you can use any Surefire mount, but you'll have to remove the rubber handgrip. That should make the Brinkmann the same diameter or less than a Surefire (I have not measured). If it's smaller, wrapping a spacer around the Brinkmann would be a piece of cake.
