green-green-green dot
blue-green-blue dot
orange-green-orange dot
yellow-green-yellow-dot
red-green-red dot

Or even dots with a bar under on the rear sight, bracket bars...so many choices!

Any opinions as to which color combination is best, and why?
Thanks!

My Glock 19 is my only pistol with night sights and they are 3 green dots. These work fine for me. The best thing is being able to align your sights in low light conditions, the color is secondary and pretty much an individual preference. If you have a color preference in daylight then try to match it with your night sights.

I like the front dot to be different from the two rear ones so that in theory in a rush you do not align the front to the side of both rears but if holding the gun normally 3 greens should be ok.

i have read somewhere that the green tritium last longer....something like 12 years. i have green on 3 guns right now and havent had any problems out of them, easy to pick up the target once your eyes have adjusted to darkness a few seconds.

It depends on your eyes, nobody elses. What works best for me, and me only, is white rear dots with a green front. Look at a few sets and see which you can pick up easiest.

Green last the longest, up to 10-12 years.
Blue goes the fastest, less than 4 years.

I've got Grn/Grn Mepro's on 2 guns and Grn/Grn adjustable (-0-) MMC's on another. Then I've got a set of Org front/Grn rear Meps on another gun. At first I thought I would really like the different color fronts but after two years I've decided I like the Grn/Grn better. The orange has already started to dim and now the front sight is almost overpowered by the bright green rears. You really have to torque the gun something aweful to line up all three dots with the front outside the rears. It's so unnatural that you can feel it way before you get that far out alignment.

After all my tinkering I've decided I like plain old grn/grn. I also prefer Meprolights and MMC to any other brand (Triji, Ameripro, etc.) Other brands lose the white painted on ring around the tritrium vial with repeated cleanings. Meps use a white sleeve insert around the prizm so cleaning solvents/oil won't hurt it.

I haven't had good luck with any color but green. All other colors proved too dim to be useful. Of course, this just may be me.

I went through this a while back for my PTs...after talking with the smith, we settled on green/green since they do last the longest...I also had the option of a bar between the rear dots....I got that too but after a while, I found it distracting and I broke the vial....now I have just 3 green dots...works just fine....

Well, xssights has some white tritium night sights, just as an example. Have a look at http://www.gunblast.com/XS_BigDot.htm . Mine may actually be a very pale yellow, with a white dot painted around them, but it looks white to me. Novaks rear tritium sights for the HP look white to me also, that's the only model of Novak I've shot.
