Practice in front of a mirror in a dim room without using sights at all. I found that at seven yards the muzzle points directly at the image of the BG's COM (Center Of Mass) if I try to "aim" at the right side of his image.

Actually, using this method is more or less self-correcting for distance, at least from about three yards to about ten yards. Beyond that, for me at least, all bets are off.

This is with a straight-magazine-housing 1911. I imagine if I put an arched mainspring housing on it things will be different. Practice the draw-and-point from the holster for each shot. (Most ranges won't allow this without you begging and bribing and whining to be allowed to try it.)

Using an airsoft clone for point-shooting practice is beneficial as well.

Sights? I doan need no steenkin' sights!

At least not out to ten yards.

In your point-shooting practice, make sure the gun is unloaded, standard disclaimers. yadda yadda yadda.

I agree that point shooting is definitely a good thing to practice. I just picked up an XD-9 and that thing seems to point so naturally it's ridiculous.

I guess nobody really has orange rear sights, or yellow....

Also, that bar/dot system seems like it would be effective, but I'm not sure that the contrasting dots wouldn't be just as effective. Although the bar/dot does seem like target acquisition would be a little faster.

Please post orange and yellow rears :( Please!!

Hk P2000SK. Not really a great picture, though - I took it from my MacBook webcam, and the program I'm using has an automatic flash.

One of many,
The XS big dot is really set up like the original Sig sights, you just cover the point on the target with the front sight and make sure the rear sight looks like a lower case i. I call it the BIC man, because of the little man on the bic pens.
Simply place the dot slightly above the V in the rear sight. Same for daytime. usually in daytime I just cover my targets and squeeze 2 rounds out and move on. it is an excellent set of combat sights, well worth the extra few dollars over a 3 dot set up. The rear sight does not distract you from the more important front sight.
I like them very much. I have been thinking about getting a pair for one of my Glocks too.

Whoa. Blue tritium lamps! That's neat.

I might just go with that bar/dot system because it helps to avoid confusion in high stress situations. That's also the reason that I wanted contrasting lamps for front and rears. To avoid confusion. Especially for my wife.

That trijicon picture of the different sights is cool. Definitely saved it to my computer. However, it doesn't show the sights at night :( ...

I'm really curious to see how they contrast at nighttime, also the brightness levels of them as well.

Thanks all!
