Looking at a G26 or G27. Which night sights do you recommend and why? I can get a good deal on meprolight and trijicon.
Thanks,

David

I suggest looking at AmeriGlo night sights. I have their GL-115s on several of my Glocks. Below are photos of my OD G26 with these sights installed:

Recently put a set of Meprolights (orange front, green rears) on my daughter's G19. I am not a big Glock fan but it worked very well in various light conditions varying from dull light to quite dark. I have done quite a lot of night fire and am not into gadgets, but this did a good job. Might put a set on a wheelgun of my own.

Can't see where the Trijicons would act any differently. Bear in mind that you have to ID your target, unless you've just dropped into totally hostile territory and there is no question who the bad guys are...

Xs 24/7 big dot sights, I have them on my 19 they are sweet!!!!!!!!
They come with all the tools and instructions you need to put them on yourself, it is very easy and a quick process! They allow you to get on target fast, and they glow beautiful at night, dot front, and a post in the rear!

David,

If it's at all possible, try shooting a couple guns with various night sights installed before you make your choice. Different folks like different sight pictures, and what works for us may not work for you.

I personally prefer the Heinie Straight Eight sights to everything else I've seen . . . but I haven't seen everything :)

I have had great luck w/ Trijicons...I've had 4 diff't sets on 4 diff't guns and they just work well for me. I haven't tried others because I found one that worked right off the bat

24/7's

+1 to possum. I have XS Big Dot 24/7's on both the 2nd and 3rd gen G19, and the 1st gen G17. They are QUICK!

+1 for the Heinie sights. They give a clean sight picture during the day and a simple dot-over-dot picture at night. Very well thought-out sights. While the Big Dots are great for fast in-close shooting, they're just too big for any kind of accurate at distance. Heinies are good for both.

I have two Glock 26 pistols and both wear Meprolight fixed orange dot rear and green front sights, excellent stuff and they hit to point of aim.
For comparison I also use Meprolight adjustable night sights on my Glock 34 and have added MMC box bar rear adjustable and green dot front night sights to my recently acquired Model 19.
All of these sights have their merits, the Meprolight adjustable requires a .300 front to get the sights on target which I consider a fault and downright garish on a Model 26.
For the 26 I think you would be well served with the Meprolight fixed sights.
The Meprolights are the brightest of all the tritium sights I have looked at, installed or used.
They are so bright in green that you can almost use them as a flashlight.
If you worry that bright sights might give you away to a bad guy then I strongly consider using the yellow or orange dots rear sight.
Those colors a quite a bit more subdued and allow the front to really stand out in very low light without backlighting your face while you are drawing a bead on the bad guy.

Although they don't work well for competition (which tells me something about the relevence of comp to SD) XS sights are my choice for short range, interpersonal, chrisis management. As my wife once said about them, "Just put the big white dot on the bad guy's chest and make him go away!"
