Ok, so which ones are the best?

- Trijicon $120
- Meprolight $69
- PT $ ???

I was told that Meprolights are better than Trijicon because of the more visible white rings that facilitate day time shooting. True?

How do PT's compare and anyone know their price (the website does not have prices)?

I like the yellow rear green front trijicons but will probably go with the all green meprolights due to the much better price.

Since no two

Of us are the same or see things the same. What works for me may fail completely for you. But I will say, a carry piece, that may be used for defense is going to do a better job for you in low light w/"A" N.S. than w/o. Combined w/a proper flashlight and sufficent training, your chances of survival goes up markedly. To survive in todays market place, most any who last more than two years have a decent product. Any N.S. on the sale today will suffice, and each of us will differ on who, what is best. Go with what you can afford, buy the best your money will obtain, and rest assured that your purchase will be better than regular sights.

Mepro are very nice sights, and competitively priced too. you won't go wrong with it, and yes the white outline makes the sights more useable than Trijicon NS.

Thanks for the info. I've done some searches and unfortunately I have been able to confirm that only the meprolights and trijicons are available for CZ's.

Heinie and Ameriglo don't seem to be available for CZ, have not been able to find out if the PT's are available for CZ, and I don't like the XS 24/7 at this point.

I wish the Mepro's were available in rear yellow front green but they seem to offer only the all green. Anybody know different?

But specifically between Trijicon, Meprolights, and PT night sights which ones are the best and why?

I can't see any quality difference between the Trijicons and Mepros. However I have a set of Mepros on my G-22 and it seems to shoot a bit low compared to G-22s I've shot with Trijicons or the nightsights that come with Glocks.

I have a few sets of Mepros and am very happy with them.
I do not personally have any Trijicons, but they are also nice.
I have one set of PT's and am not impressed with them. They are small and not as bright as either Meps or Trij

I do not think Trijicons are worth the extra money, which is why I have mainly Mepros.

The PT's came with a gun I bought. They were pretty dull and I called PT. They replaced the tubes for a nominal fee, which was good customer service (especially since I was not the original buyer). The new ones were brighter, but still nowhere near as bright as Meprolights.

Don,
PT makes the night sights for CZ. I think they are $77 direct from CZ. I called CZ looking for night sights and the lady responded that they had not received their shippment from PT. I can't speak for the quality of the PT's. I've always used Meps.

I have Meps and Trijicons, the Trijicon is a much nicer sight. The sight picture on the Mep in daylight is terrible, the rear notch is too narrow and the front too wide for any type of precision. I also think the white outline is wasted space, you don't need it in daylight and it does nothing positive at night. The Meps are also too bright. Get some Trijicons.

My prefered night sight

Pardon the intrusion, but I like the Crimson Trace overmoulded laser grip on my night stand gun. A S&W M642 and Winchester +P 158 gr. LSWC.

The Crimson Trace laser grips are available for a variety of semi-autos as well.

In my humble opinion, metalic night sights only illuminate themselves and leave you searching out there in the dark trying to acquire your target over the top of your restricted sight picture. The laser puts the light on the target with some, be it small, illumination providing better target identification. It may also have a discouraging effect on the advasary causing him to disengage.

I prefer Meprolight. I pick them up better than just about anything else.

For my last 2 Glocks, Ameriglo NS were recommended by a resident Glockaholic over at Glocktalk. Decided to try out their Smooth Slope models. I'll given them this much: They're real easy to put on. I'll reserve my final judgement until after I've shot the guns. Doesn't seem to be quite as bright as the Meprolights, though.

I have PT night sights on one gun, a S&W 457. Green front and orange rears. The front sight is pretty bright, but the rears are not nearly as bright as the front. Couple of explanations for this. 1- the orange just isn't as bright (this is pretty well known). & 2 - I read somewhere (probably PT's literature) that the rear sights are intentionally dimmer to force the user to focus on the fronts. I thought the contrasting front and rear would help me line up the sights, but it's actually harder to get a quick sight picture.

Lastly, I have Trijicons as factory installed on two Kahrs. Of course high quality, but they just seem smaller than Meps. Otherwise, they're great.

These are the factory sights on my Taurus PT-145 Mil-PRO. It is my everyday CCW.

CZ also uses Meprolights. They'd use MORE if they could get hold of them.

I've had several sets of PTs, and in years past saw a bunch of them fail.

They were replaced quickly, under warranty, so there was never a complaint with THAT aspect of the sights.

I think PTs are more fragile than Meprolights or Trijicons. XS makes great sights, too.

In the past, PTs were sights to lay down and run away from. Perhaps, with a number of management changes in recent years, they're getting their act together.

That is NOT an issue iwth Meps or Trijs, or XS sights.

Night sights, is a very subjective issue at best! :uhoh:

I only have one set on a firearm, a brand new Kimber Raptor II that
wears a set of Meprolights. Having previously owning only two other
firearms with night sights (SIG's with SIG-LITES as made by Trijicon),
I much prefer these Meprolights as my old eyes can actually pick-up
these sights; even under bright, sunny conditions.

Well, most feedback points to the Meprolights. Now, I have to decide whether to go with a fiberoptic front or the Meps. :banghead:
