I would like to give a +1 to Nikon for their company warranty applied to my Prostaff 3-9x40 rifle scope. I had damaged the scope's elevation settings and magnification ability. I sent the unit back to Nikon expecting a charge for replacement or repair and was happy to get the scope back about 10 days later with the warranty fully covered.

Just a pleasant experience I wanted to share for others considering Nikon products.

I agree and had a similar experience recently as well.

I had a Prostaff 3-9X40 that went fuzzy on me. I bought it used at a local gun store. Don't know what happened, but I couldn't get the objective and the crosshairs to focus at the same time. It was horrible.

I called Nikon and they said send it in.

They sent me a completely new unit back.

THAT'S the reason I buy Nikon sport optics and camera equipment (also own a D70 and several Nikon lenses).

Nice to see some REAL opinions. Throughout the years, I've heard nothing but negative comments about Nikon's service. People saying scopes taking over 8 weeks to be returned, bad communication etc.

Hard to believe Nikon, which is a lot more than a rifle scope maker - wouldn't have the professionalism and resources to have top-notch customer service considering the size of their company and the scope (pardon the pun) of their business.

Not to hijack the thread, but I've had experience with Aimpoint and Trijicon. Aimpoint was a pain in the butt to get in touch with over the phone. If you leave a message, they'll get back to you in 3 days or so. Turn around time was about 2 months due to the fact that they have to ship it back to Sweden.

Trijicon was different. Communication was instant. They got the scope back to me in 7 business days! That was FAST!

I can surely say that Nikon will not repair anything that they belive to be the users fault. I had a Monarch 3-9x that was dropped once and the objective bell dented a tiny bit and the front lens cracked inside. I sent it to Nikon asking them to fix it, either under warranty, or just send me the bill for the repair cost. Thier response? "We cannot fix this, you must purchase a new scope". I was a little annoyed... I buy Pentax now, they just dont break.

Well i can say I know it was my fault and they covered it - so atleast others will know things may have changed at the warranty dept.

I've seen Nikon scopes and binos that have been rolled over by ATV's and such. I've seen binos squashed flat... replaced with a new set, no questions asked. I've personally got a silver Buckmaster that got bent because of that very thing... fell out of the ATV's rack and I rolled over it. The occular bell was bent down 15 degrees with a nice crease in the tube too.
Nikon said, "That will be twenty bucks." Done. Scope's like perfect again. Your little dent must be a little more than little or a dent.

Sighted it in over the course of yesterday and she is a keeper.
Pretty exciting for me actually as it was my first scope and only 2nd time trying to sight in myself.
