Hi, sorry for the first post, but I'm new to all this. I've been contemplating submitting a NJ application for a firearm identification card, but wanted to run my own background check if possible.

I had a juvenile arrest (drug possession) when I was 17, I'm now 32 and want to see if it's still on my record or if it's been expunged. I also voluntarily attended rehab at the same time and want to see if this is on my medical record.

Does anyone know a legit background check website for criminal and medical records? I don't want to lie on the application and don't want to put any extra info down if it won't show up.

Any help is appreciated.

As far as I know, you still have to go through your local PD to get your criminal record checked out and the process is basically 90% of getting a FID card in NJ anyways, so you might as well just try to get the FID straight up. That is to say, to get your record you have to make an appointment on one of the finger-printing days, get printed, and they sent it to the SBI and then you get your report back. If you apply for a FID, you're going to be doing all that again, so if anything came up the first time, it's not likely they're going to miss or ignore it the second.

You might want to contact Evan Nappen in Eatontown, he is an attorney that specializes in 2A cases and might be able to answer your questions regarding records or rehab. NJ is a finicky state.
