According to NJ state law, one can carry a firearm on one's person in his or her fixed place of business. I saw a post on a forum once that made a passing reference (not cited) to a NJ Supreme Court decision that basically said only the owner of a business is allowed to do this.

Can anyone help me figure out if this is true?

Good question because it's been ruled in Georgia that "place of business", as written in our gun laws, is where you work, and does not just apply to the owner.

Several NJ State v. Valentine cases are listed in the court's venues.. None one has anything to do with a bar or their employees.

There was a 1973 NJ v. Valentine case that involved a bar manager and the question of fixed place of business question. It was cited in a place of business case here in CT.
