NJ Woman Brutally Murdered While Waiting for Pistol Permit to Protect Herself

I saw this on the GOA Facebook Alerts which linked up to thefederalistpapers.org. I went over to the NJgunforums.com and this is a veryhot topic (as it should be).

As some of you might know. In order to buy a rifle or a handgun in NJ you have to apply to the police to get a purchasers permit, pay about $90 in fees, fill out an application, undergo a background check, undergo a mental health check, get fingerprinted, list 2 or 3 references, wait for your references to be verified. And 30 to 90 days you have your permit. One permit is for purchasing rifles or the other permit is for purchasing ONE handgun.

No you cannot get a carry permit in NJ. She just wanted to BUY a handgun for protection.

So what happened? Carole Bowne of Berlin Township NJ was under threat of domestic violence. She attempted to take steps to protect herself. She got a restraining order. Installed security cameras, and an alarm system. Then started the long draconian and onerous NJ purchase permit process on April 21 to buy a handgun to protect herself.

Wednesday night, Carol was stabbed to death in her driveway by her ex boyfriend.

"Carol Bowne died because the New Jersey gun laws are so outrageously draconian they didn’t allow her to protect herself.......No one can ever know if Bowne would have saved her own life had she had a firearm because she was never allowed the chance to own one thanks to handgun laws in New Jersey. "

There is more...

"Gun control extremists have worked hard to take that right away. These people must be held accountable for Carol Bowne’s brutal murder."

It's spelled Christie, BTW.

But yeah...he is the worst possible R candidate. Has zero understanding of the 2A, and his positions on a number of other issues...likewise. He's about as much of a Republican as Bloomberg.

Of course, in some of those states (including the one I grew up in 40 years ago, CT) you can run 2 degrees to the right of the communist/socialist D and call yourself an R (see Lincoln Chaffee, among others).

In the end, it is the people in these states that elect these idiots to make these laws.

I have lived in CT, CA and IL, among many other states. It is truly discouraging to live in a state that utterly refutes your rights. The USA has certainly deteriorated a long way since I grew up.

We do demand change:

http://www.anjrpc.org/

but we are a minority and we (and the governor of the state) must abide by laws that are supported by the majority of voters in our state.

If only the majority would see the advantages of being armed before they had a need to be armed, then we would have an entirely different situation in this state.

the governor of the state (Christie) was pro gun control when he was a member of the NJ legislature...he is part of the problem...not the solution

Somewhere I saw an article reporting which GOP candidates do or do not own a gun. Christie and Bush were the only ones in the "do not" group.

I'd vote for Hillary before I'd vote for Christie. Why? Cause she's a Democrat who would be stuck with a Republican Congress. Christie would be a Republican president with a Republican Congress. He could do much more damage to the 2nd Amendment.

As for the lady, here in Texas we have no stinken registration, no stinken waiting period, and you can even go to such as TexasGunTraders and skip the stinken Federal forms.

And plenty of geezers at the gun ranges would be happy to show the ladies how to shoot and take care of their guns.

If she did have a gun and killed the ex she would have been arrested. I would think "they" would argue that her death is just what happens "for the greater good of the people".

That is the flaw with the philosophy of "we look out for EVERYONE" when in fact they don't care for the individual just the group.

...

so, moving to a more liberal Supreme Court does not bother you? There are conservative justices holding off retirement so that this administration does not appoint their replacement.

Additionally, no one knows the make up of either the Senate or House of Representatives initially or throughout the term of the next president.
