The last time I went into the LGS was just before the panic really took hold. The last thing I looked at were a pair of SCAR's in .308. They were $2,200 a piece and I really wasn't totally sold on them so I passed.

As the panic really ramped up we drove to the LGS a few times just to witness the spectacle and see if they had run out of AR's and just get a feel for the mentality of the crowd...but we never got in because we could never find a parking space.

Several times I drove by there during the middle of a workday (not lunch hour...mid morning or mid afternoon) and the place was jam packed. You couldn't get a parking spot for months.

I went by today just to see if it had slacked up...plenty of parking spots. It was so slow that THREE people asked if I needed help. I don't think anyone has EVER done that before.

They were all just sitting around with tons of inventory and nothing to do.

there was some ammo but it was a hodge-podge assortment of stuff. They had 5.56 but it was reloads or frangibles or some other odd stuff. They had a lot of .40 cal and 9 mm and .45 acp.

It was an interesting change from the last few months.

Prices are still elevated to varying degrees. The SCAR's I had looked at earlier are now listed at $3,300. I had little interest before so a price hike of $1,000 didn't get my attention.

It will be interesting to see where prices are around January.

Wow...a $2200 SCAR 17 would have been a steal even at pre-panic prices. A SCAR 16, yes, but not a 17!

Just came from LGS fully stocked guns and ammo. They said it is so slow now they cut back employee hours.

I am in western . PA . Ar15 were 800.00. Glocks 525.00 They said its really slow. Got front row parking and they are also closing early.

My LGS's have guns, but no ammo. Ammo that does come in gets bought up quickly. This is true of both LGSs as well as major sporting goods retailers. If you want an AR, you can find one pretty easily at prices that approach pre-panic. Not sure of Wal-Mart's pricing, but Academy's prices on guns and ammo has gone up. I imagine that there will be some normalization on gun prices (or at least fewer price hikes) in the future. I doubt that ammo will come down anytime soon though. If they can sell through their entire shipment of common rifle & pistol calibers in 30 minutes of opening, obviously they aren't charging enough.

Hmmm. I'm not seeing that on my end of the state.

Really unstable and erratic inventory. Some powders, not the most popular ones. You can have all the primers you want, so long as its just shotgun and benchrest that you want. Cheap ARs are in stock, but just cheap ones. Same deal with bullets.

LGS

I went into an LGS Friday, Overpriced AR's from one wall to the other. Maybe 3 other guys there, no one was buying that I saw. I glanced at the ammo shelves, lots of overpriced .223
I'm in Northern California.

my local LGS had Herters steel cased 7.62x39 for $15 a box! I think they picked it up at cabelas and just marked it up ridiculously.

I saw some powder, primers, and bullets at our local Sportsman's today all at pre-panic pricing. The LGS had a lot of stuff in but was upcharging on most of it (like $50 per 1k pistol primers). Had a few boxes of mini-mags but for $13 a box (100).

And they wonder why it's slow in there?
