no guns sign in richmond va parks

There are " no guns" signs at the south end of the belle island footbridge in richmond va. I have spoken to Ralph White 804-646-8911, and a Christy Everson at 804-646-7000 in parks and rec. I have called Mary louis Mitchel. Miss Mitchell has not return my call yet. Her # is 804-7970. The sign in question has duct tape ( or rather what was once duct tape) over the "no guns" part. I have asked Ralph White in person and by phone to paint over this offending part. He feels that the tape is good enough. Please give these people a call today and let them know that you feel that Paint would be a better soulution.

I left a message for Mr. White and asked who is responsible. If he calls me back I will suggest a new sign. Anyone can use tape to "deface" a legitimate sign. A new sign without the offending words is required.

I doubt I will hear from him, or anyone else so we need to keep the heat on.

As of 1 pm Miss Mitchell did get back to me and said the signs would be painted today. I thank anyone who called. She was very helpful. If you could call her and thank her for her quick action that would be great.

Well now there is a sign on at the belle lsle parking lot on the northside of the river. Ralph Was actually on the isle and I spoke to him. He was less than helpful. His boss can be reached at 804-6460199 mary lois mitchum. I was told before this would not be issue again... I guess they lied.

Thank you for going to all the hassle of trying to get them to obey the law. I also complained to a small town I was living in in Washington state about a sign that stated no guns in the only city park. I sent an email and it made the rounds for about a month, but then I got a nice call saying that they had covered the improper signage. They used some white tape that looked to be better than duct tape and I'm sure will outlast the sign. Thanks for sticking with it and I hope you're successful soon.
