No holster carry?

I carry my P3AT in mt pants pocket. A buddy said that I am a law breaker and it is supposed to be in a holster. Is this true? We are both live in Ohio and have ccp bty.
I believe your buddy is referring to the old Ohio law (obsolete since 2009, IIRC) concerning carrying a CCW handgun in a vehicle...where it had to be in a holster or case. At the time, there was much debate about the legality of Kel-Tec and such carry clips. There is no such car/holster requirement now, plus it never was about concealed carry on your person.
Actually, the Ohio laws for car carry changed again (for the better) about a month ago (09-30-11).
I would encourage you to read the Ohio CCW laws if you are carrying a concealed handgun. Don't depend on what a buddy, thread responders, or I say.

That said, I would personally not carry without a holster, unless I had no other option. Carrying it around the house is a bit different than all day long, every day.

.

I have carried mine like that for a year now.

I have a S&W M&P that I carry inside the waistband with no holster I take it everywhere and it is much more convenient for if I have to take it out. It has never slid down my leg or fallen out, or shot me. I have spent whole days shopping with the wife walking around the mall without a problem, I wear a belt and it sits just fine. I dont however carry one in the chamber. I too am a tall guy and it also fits comfortably in my pocket without printing.

[I've moved a number of posts on holster stores/buying which were off-topic in this discussion into a thread of their own, here.]

No holster + semi auto = moronic. Unloaded CCW? :banghead:

There are plenty of no-frills kydex/leather holster options, Silent Thunder for example, that are plenty comfortable AND safe.

Mexican carry works, especially with a snug, stiff belt. Obviously I prefer to carry in a IWB holster... but when my wife sends me out for a gallon of milk or a pack of butter that she needs RIGHT NOW, there's no time to fiddle with strapping on my holster! LOL. That's where Mexican Carry fits the bill.

LOL... I hate to admit, I tried that once. Unless you are used to carrying a purse, you WILL forget it somewhere... usually public restrooms, lol. You'll be happily strolling along with friends or family, then stop and turn pale as you say OMG to yourself. Then you'll turn and run back to the restroom (or wherever you left your purse) saying all kinds of prayers and curses simultaneously. Finally, you'll get to your destination and breathe a sigh of relief at the sight of your purse still hangining right where you left it (if you're lucky)... and then proceed to sit right back down on the toilet since you now realize you had crapped your pants in fear.

.... Don't get a purse...

Besides the obvious pocket carry for certain guns, are there people on here who don't use a holster to carry?
Personally, I don't even pocket carry without a holster. That is in part becuase I use striker-fired guns (Glock, Kahr) which I am not comfortable carrying without a holster that covers the trigger.

I find that quite a few holsters make the gun sit higher than I like and the handle prints like no tomorrow
THat is, I think, a deliberate design choice, as many people find that guns which ride high tend to conceal better and/or are more comfortable to carry. There are some IWB holster that are designed to carry the gun as low as possible that you might want to look into (ex. RM Holster Works Low Rider IWB)

no holster carry = STUPID! There are too many great holsters out threre to keep your gun in place when you need it...

posting blanket statements on the internet= stupidity... I have some very expensive holsters, but i am more comfortable without them, I also don't carry little pee shooters, I carry a full size auto! It never slides, drops or falls, and it is always right where I want it... not sure what your talking about...
