The opening paragraphs:

The blogosphere has exploded with outrage in response to news that Walmart is suspending ammunition sales in anticipation of the Obama administration’s gun-control recommendations to Congress – but the retail giant tells WND the reports aren’t true.

“That information is inaccurate,” said Ashley Hardie, a spokeswoman located at Walmart’s corporate headquarters in Bentonville, Ark.

WND then asked whether the retail chain is cutting back on orders of ammunition.

“No,” Hardie said. “We’re continuing to serve our customers as we have in the past.”

She said Walmart’s ammunition sales policy has not changed, even amid talk of gun-control legislation in Washington, D.C.

Good. Now people can quit panicing.

All I can say is our Wal-Mart has shelves full of ammo & I asked Bill today (he is the older guy that is the head of Sporting at our Wal-Mart) & he ordered more yesterday..........

What Limbaugh says or does not say about ammo at Walmart was not my point...but I am not surprised that 2 libs wouldn't get it. PS Your watch is not all that is screwed up..... but you can ask Obama to buy you a new watch.:(

Dear Mr. President,

Here's a suggestion for a question that should be added to federal form 4473. Q: Have you ever posted on an internet forum, quoting what a minimum wage, part time employee at the WM gun counter said like it was the gospel? If the answer is yes, application for gun purchase should be denied immediately. :neener:

I'm no fan of WM, but in addition to WM, every lgs as well as Academy, Gander Mtn, Cabela's and Bass Pro I've been to since the tragedy in Newtown have been completely out of .223, 7.62x39 and .22LR except for the high dollar premium stuff. It's a shortage that's hitting not just WM.

Got to know that internet news sites, and I use that term very loosely, do a lousy job, if they even attempt to do so, of verifying whether information is true or not before posting it for the world to read. Sadly, the big 3 network and cable news rooms seem to be playing pretty fast and loose with the truth as well. Gotta take a deep breath and sort things out for ourselves these days.

WalMart grosses me out every time i walk in one.

This.

Academy Sports by me was handing out numbers at the door this morning for ammo. I got there 5 minutes after they opened and everything in high demand was already gone. Stopped back over lunch, over 30 people in line for about 50 boxes of ammo that came in.

Picked up 5000 rounds of .22 yesterday at WalMart, and no I did not buy all they had.
The clerk was a great source of information- he explained to me he didn't need to buy .22 ammo as he reloaded his.

Please, oh please, tell me there was a level of sarcasm in that statement...

:scrutiny:

After a hard day working at Walmart, nothing, and I mean nothing, is as calming to the soul as polishing down (inside and out) the hammer strike on a .22 casing, and carefully mixing the priming paste and carefully layering it - nice and even now, so that the powder charge settles consistently around the base.
Need some .22 heads? Plenty of 'em right there in the dirt berm - digging around the firing line (make sure to call a cease fire) is like gardening, but your green thumb comes from copper residue. Compared to having managers yelling at you for not restocking shelves fast enough, no stress at all from hand-seating those .22 heads down into your freshly prepared cases.
Ah... true relaxation, and the satisfaction of making rounds for pennies apiece.

Silliness aside, I was just at my local Wal-Mart (Westchester County, NY), and saw plenty of ammo there (but no .22 lr), and no signage indicating a change in our ability to buy it there.

Walmarts in the Charleston, SC have a lot of empty shelves. But curiously enough, I've had no problem finding the .45 Winchester 100 round boxes. .22 is hit or miss.

Most of the boxes on the shelves are usually the odd rifle round.

9mm and most other handgun ammo has been pretty bare the last few days. But they get some...it just sells out fast.

You talked me into grinding me up a punch to take that indent out of the .22 rim.

I figure I can run through a few hundred rounds now and then while watching TV.

Why waste all that nice, shiney .22 brass nobody else EVER thinks to pick up for reloading?

Next up, I'm gonna dig me up an old speaker magnet to help me gather up all that loose brass.

:D

Rumor or not, the Walmart here has ammo on the shelf but will not sell it. I've also seen posted signs on other forums at Walmart that state they have stopped selling ammo.

Makes me wonder if the other rumors are true about one EO that will make ammunition a certain class of hazmat in which the regulation of it will be too cost prohibitive for sellers.

Still no response on my email, I did read the response posted however. I hope they stay strong, hate to have to ban them for life.

What the hell is this?
