No more ARs left for christmas

I just saw 1 left in the local small chain sporting goods store here, their display racks were about half empty though and are usually full. May possibly have been a .22 AR clone, I did not look closely, but it had the standard AR profile.

Yeah, everyone is quickly out of the good stuff. I see brands I've never heard of, still on the shelves though. CDNN DOES NOT HAVE A SINGLE AR VARIANT IN STOCK.

...

Most of our LGS are well stocked. We saw the writing on the wall and stockpiled some before the election. I couldn't find any afterwards but did grab a couple of Rock River lowers and found a DPMS and a Wilson upper. Stocked about 5000 rounds of ammo and about (20) 30 round magpuls too. I don't know if I should sell them or hoard them.

I went back by on my way home to check on the one on the shelf around here, it is a Anderson AM-15 Zombie certified in green/black. Price tag is just under $1,200, any thoughts on if this is a good deal?

ps they also had a .22 clone

Heard today of a local idiot who sold his tractor, went to Walmart and bought nearly everything they had, including several AR's. Yes, let the idiocy begin.

Yeah, but it can be fun to get caught up in the rush too, if you can do it without spending too much. I too am glad I stocked up on a few thousand rounds for the AK, well and have a fairly good AK, just wish I would have bought an AR before now, just kept putting it off, even looked at one last week.

I tried to get one today and failed. CDNNs lines were busy for most of the day. When I finally got through about 5:30 the guy said the Colt I wanted were gone early and the only thing left were the PTR rifles.

If I were a gun retailer right now, I'd be tempted to hold back all or part of my AR stock to see if panic buying really sets in. Then I could crank up my prices to double or more what they were before.

(It's this kind of behavior that feeds the panic. It all becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.)

At this point it is probably better to buy lower receivers instead of complete AR's and build them yourself. A lower is only around $100 more or less; you can buy 5 lowers and build them slowly instead of trying to find a complete AR.

As I reflect on the AR platform fever I wonder...
If you wanted to flood the country with them, could you have been more successful than the last 5 years have been?

I know. I find it highly ironic that passing any kind of so called AWB legislation through the house of representatives would seem a very very tall task given its current make up. As such calls for gun control are likely to fail and only serve the purpose of causing thousands and thousands of that type of gun to be sold and even more magazines and ammo.

It has put so many more of these types of guns out there it is hard to fathom. It also has helped to create facts on the ground supporting the idea that they are "in common use" which although arguably dicta from the Heller opinion may yet prove to be important language.

as of a few min ago, palmeto state's crappy polymer lowers were still in stock at $50 ea

cdig, both those links show all lowers out of stock

On the same note I think that people stock more than a few mags on top of there rifle. I had seen on arfcom that one place sold 58K pmags since Friday.

I looked at AIM yesterday for a friend and they were sold out bravo looks the same. I did see the "plastic" ones but I don`t know. I will pass the info along thanks guys.

Impact guns added a few hundred to the cost of the LE6920. They are now asking $1500. I know for a fact it was lower over the weekend. I just now ordered a LE6920MP-FDE for $1250 from somewhere else. I also got the 10Magpul Pmags from Brownells for $120 shipped.

Yes, Impact seems to have upped the price by around $300 overnight. I also noted all the lowers went out of stock over the weekend at AIM as well as most other places I was price comparing.

I had been waiting to see if I was going to get an end of year bonus before taking the plunge for a new gov't profile upper. Looks like that's off the table now as well.

<sigh>

Went into my favorite local shop today to help a buddy's wife get his xmas present. She bought the last AR (that had rails installed). I bought the last 2 30 round magazines in the store and there was a line behind me when we left. We got there 2 minutes BEFORE the store opened.

Just ordered a upper for a lower I've had for a year with nothing on it. Couldn't believe how far back ordered everthing was.

Glad I got my parts ordered for my re-build when I did. Things will calm down a bit I think, I don't see much getting passed through a pro-2nd Amendment Republican controlled House of Representatives. I could be wrong though. Which is why I ordered a 10 pack of P-Mags, and managed to snag a 60 round Surefire the day before the CT shooting before they sold out at Brownells. Should have ordered 2-3 more of them. Oh well I backordered one.
