I went into my local reloading store today and was told that "the Goex factory had a fire and it's unknown when or if real black powder will be available again. :what:

Does anyone have any information on this ?

That's news to me, and I belong to two ML e-mail lists. IIRC, Goex did have a fire several months ago, but it did relatively little damage.

You might give Track of the Wolf a call and ask them - 763-633-2500.

Don't worry...

MainePowderHouse.com or TrackoftheWolf.com and Graf will send you powder. We're too big of a market to ignore. There's $$$ to be made from us.

BTW, there was a shortage of blackpowder at the outbreak of the American Revolution and so many cottage industries were started to produce powder. Naturally, some were better than others. Nowadays we'd shake our head in disbelief if someone wanted to make powder. They'd have to live in the country had have a lot of land in case something goes wrong. :uhoh: Easier to buy it and the quality is consistent.

theres nothing about another fire on the goex board except a post similar to this one and probably from the same source. The gunshop has probably decided it's too much trouble to order and store black powder and decided to tell this story where the truth would serve better.

Its become a mail order hobby. All the stores around here are finding it too much trouble to stock ML or modern loading components . It's so easy to deal with the internet stores now that our local shops are going out of business. Apparently it's not too much trouble to close up shop.

If their has been anotehr Goex fire, there's still Swiss powder. Good stuff.
