You can try this company www.murphypowder.com. They are a GOEX distributor in S. El Monte, CA. I've used them to help me find gun stores in
LA County that stock GOEX.

The Blue Trail Range Gun Store in Wallingford sells it.
The owner's name is Dave Lyman of the same family that started Lyman Products which imports the Lyman/Investarms BP guns.
They sell a lot of muzzle loading shooting supplies.

I guess that's one advantage of living within driving distance of Fort Shenandoah. We can buy all the powder we can legally have at quite reasonable prices.

Gee folks, not to rub it in but after reading these posts I now somehow feel very blessed that I live only 40 miles from Grafs and less than 15 miles from Midway USA. Although Midway doesn't stock any powder, BP or smokeless because the Feds say that their wharehouse it too close to interstate I-70. They only do drop ships, and yes, you pay HASMAT fees. Grafs does not have that problem. They both offer dealer prices on most of their items to anyone that has a C&R 03 which helps. I just bought a LB of Trip 7 from Grafs and paid $18.59. Our Bass Pro also keeps it in stock but sells it for $29.99 a LB.

I had no idea how hard it is to get BP in other areas.

We had a black powder specialty shop 30 minutes away, but I drove out there last week and discovered they had all but closed due to lack of business. So I put in a "trial" order (five pound mixed lot, Goex "Express" and Swiss) with Powder, Inc. which cost me a total of $130. Compared to the other ways I waste my money this is nothing, and I've been happy with the service from them so far. Time will tell, but at this point "unavailability" just doesn't sound to me like a valid reason to use BP substitutes.

You're right Robert, it's not. BP is available out there for sure, but most of us seem to have to order it online which takes a little planning ahead and a few extra bucks. It's a bit of a pain but better than nothing.

I can't blame the gunshops though, for not stocking it. For the small segment of BP shooters make up in the shooting community it’s really not worth the hassle and cost of getting the federal license they have to get in order to stock and sell.

The owner of one shop told me he used to carry alot of BP gear and guns but there was so little interest in it he gave up on it. No wonder they don't bother keeping BP on hand.
