I ordered a couple of boxes of 9mm Gold Dots last week. Buster Brown showed up on Friday and left it sitting on my door step without getting a signature or even knocking on the door. I assumed a signature would be required for ammo, but maybe not.

They also put the shipping label right over the ORM-D sticker, so it was completely covered up. Maybe that had something to do with it...?

May be, may not be.

I've had things left out that clearly say 'Signature Required'. Once, the delivery guy let the roofing contractor working on the house sign for a package.

Probably more incompetence than policy.

I received a case of Port 7.62x51 at the house once while I was at work; I'd filled out the "signature card" or whatever it was called for UPS with the directions to leave packages by my side gate. Apparently delivery boy got met with a couple snarling dogs on the other side of the gate, and THREW 1000 rounds over the fence (broke the wooden crate, but battlepacks are tougher stuff). Thought that was kind of weird.

I was mad until I realized that anyone that could've pitched that HEAVY crate over the six foot fence was either too big to take to task, or was seriously startled. I didn't call and complain. Could've been the meth heads across the street, too, they might've done it just trying to bash my dogs.

I had 1000 rounds of .45 delivered to me without a signature. The delivery guy wondered out loud to me what was so heavy in such a small box. I decided not to enlighten him.

A lot of folks you don't realize that if you ever get one of those "signature cards" left for a package that if you're not careful you can easily check the "leave all packages without a signature" box. Can also happen if you move into a place where somebody has done that in the past...

Same thing happened to my uncle... but since he's a computer tech for Santa Fe Rail, he just told them it was some sort of computer component. :p

The heck with ammo, they deliver firearms to me all the time without signature. Sometimes the box has about 3 stickers that say "DO NOT DROP" and "ADULT SIGNATURE REQUIRED".

Granted, I've got a pretty good gate that they know the code to, and at least in my area I know the drivers by name and would much prefer that they just leave the package at the door if I happen to be on the can when they show up, but I still have to laugh every time one of those packages with all the stickers gets dropped off.

i've had ISSUES with ups too, though the one time fedex "delivered" ammo, they screwed it up too, so i guess ups is doing better percentage wise. it invariably invlolves a trip down to their station and often a long wait. we've asked the driver to come by later in the day to get his signature and he doesn't show, we've asked them to get their signature at the office of the apartment complex, he won't, though he leaves other packages there. one time the driver left a door hanger the first day saying two packages first attempt, second day it says one package second attempt. 'nother drive down to their station. i am not thrilled. :fire:

Don't feel bad, they dropped a box off that had a signature requirement sticker on it at the wrong house, which was under construction, on my street on a Friday when I left town. Needless to say, I never received that package and gave the Brown Bumblers a piece of my mind. :banghead:

I guess it all depends on how you feel about this. I personally like that they leave my packages that are heavy on the screened in back porch. I'm at work. No one else is going to be home to sign.. I live in the boonies. I am very happy and surprised the these guys can fing my place, will drive the dirt road and even show up when it is muddly and snowing and way past dark close to Christmas time. Best service ever---------almost ;)

It all depends on the state you live in and on the state you ordered the ammo from.

No signature=No Delivery...

i.e. you never got it if they left it on your porch.

Stick it to 'em - eventually the boys in brown wil get the idea.

Well, I'd rather they leave ammo on my porch rather than C&R guns.

The last signiture item I ordered was a MN 91/30 and the idiot UPS guy left that on my porch with no signiture. I'm sure their insurance carrier would be interested to know about that.

Get ammo from Kiesler's and you gotta sign for it which is a huge PITA for me because I am not home whenever they try to deliver. So, I order from Natchez and Midway USA because they do not require a signature. For me, that's best. Driver just hides it on my front porch and sometimes takes it around back and stuffs it through the doggie door if it is a small box.

On a similar note, I received a door tag from FedEx one Friday and I was expecting a package. I got up on Saturday and drove 30 minutes to the FedEx place to pick it up. Gave the counter guy the tag and DL and he comes back with a quizical look on his melon...Is your name so-and-so? No, why? Well this package is for so-and-so at #### 25th St.. Just freakin' great. I live on 25th Ct. you idiots!!! You talking about POd...no consolation either. Oh, we're sorry about that.

I have ammunition delivered all the time, but I hardly ever sign for it.
Same here.

That's essentially dishonest and you should be ashamed of yourself, but are probably not. That's the problem.

It is kind of funny when they ask you what it is when it clearly says on the box "Cartridge: Small Arms" or something like that.

You know what I'm the kind'a guy who when given too much change back always returns it to the clerk. I'm so freaking honest that once I lost a job because of it...

BUT!

Sometimes one must fight fire with fire. So in this case in regards to UPS and their unconscionable and dangerous policy of just leaving Adult Sig required packages on the front porch - well - you're right - I don't feel ashamed at all.

What's worse(?) - having UPS routinely leave firearms and ammo on a front porch just begging to be stolen by god only knows who or hitting UPS in the pocket book so that they learn that it isn't a good idea to leave things on the front porch when the sender/receiver demand personal receipt of same. Would UPS care if that ammo or gun found it's way into the hands of a gang banger? I doubt it. But they'd care if every time one of their moron drivers left a package without getting a signature when required that they had to pay out a claim for their negligence.

BUT that's never gonna happen because too many people let those SOB's in brown get away with not doing their jobs right. :banghead:
