Has anyone ever run into a non factory safety converted OM BH? I've got a 3 screw that has the safety conversion pieces done and in place, but I can't find the factory stamping indicating it was converted at the factory. I'm gonna call ruger on Monday, but am curious if anyone else had run into that.

Also, what pieces are swapped out during the conversion? Is ruger still doing the free reblue if sent in for the conversion?

I have never heard of the free factory reblue for a conversion. Even given that, Ruger is getting nowhere near my OM SBH with the original lockwork.

As far as the non factory conversion, I suspect that someone sent their OM back, had the conversion done and then switched it back to the old lockwork when they got it back. Probably sold the conversion parts off which were purchased and put into your gun.

I called Ruger and they couldnt tell me if it had been converted or not as they didnt have access to the serial numbers. (It had the parts, but could not find the "R" stamp on it anywhere). They are sending me a box to ship it to them. I'm gonna have them reblue it and get her tuned up to like new (on my dime of course). It was the last handgun my father and I shot together before he passed. It needs some timing work and a few other minor things corrected, so I cant think of a better time to send it to them. I've even thought about gettgin the frame case colored, but will hold off for now and will just go for the reblue.
